Oscillation between two mind sets

Oscillation between two mind sets

Sometimes I feel like I’m on top of things and don’t feel like my trauma defines me and I don’t feel so ashamed and scared. Other times I want to hide from the world and feel like a **** (I’m not going to say the word here since I don’t want to trigger anyone) 😭, I feel so ashamed that I don’t want people to know

@creative_writer Mm it is very challenging to feel at war with oneself. I wonder if maybe IFS could be helpful for you as a way of exploring this inner conflict and helping to bring these parts together towards resolution. It's one of my fav modalities and has been really helpful for me in conceptualising my sense of self. Could always bring it up with your psych if it sparks an interest in you!

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

@Jynx, thank you for sending info on IFS. I think I’m going to have a lot to discuss with my psych next appointment. Once a month hardly feels like enough. I’ve been thinking of increasing my insurance which may cover it once I do, but even then, I fear therapy sessions will still be expensive. Even with the Medicare rebate, my psych has a gap fee. Everything is so expensive 😢

@creative_writer you're very welcome. Yeah, it's pretty disgusting how many barriers there are to accessing support. I hope you can find a way to get more sessions as needed hun 🤞

@Jynx, I wish there weren’t as many barriers but we don’t live in an ideal world. I think I might also return to the guided service. It’s hard when Centrelink is your only income. I know my dad would be willing to help, but I don’t want to put that pressure on him

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

@creative_writer without knowing anything of your dad's situation (so take this with a grain of salt) - how do you know it would put pressure on him? Or moreso, how do you know he wouldn't be willing or even prefer to endure that pressure if it meant that you were able to access better, more frequent support?

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

@Jynx, I think it’s just classic me to think I’m putting pressure on everyone. I honestly don’t think he would mind, but I feel like I burden people. Though, I would have to check with insurance how much is covered and go from there. I feel like 20 sessions during COVID was more reasonable, some of us have complex mental health needs

I’ve been thinking too much on the train. I am having lots of conflicting thoughts. I know I didn’t want what happened to me, and I certainly hated it. At the same time I’m having thoughts telling me I subconsciously enjoyed it. Can someone ever be responsible for SA?

Hey there @creative_writer

It's totally okay to be thinking a lot on the train, I hope that you're okay.

I'm here to chat if you needed at all 💗

@amber22 I’m feeling very confused. I know I’m not to blame but at the same time I feel I am

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

You are definitely not to blame at all @creative_writer , but it is totally understandable to be feeling confused. Try and take today one step at a time.

What are you up to today?
