Oscillation between two mind sets

Oscillation between two mind sets

Sometimes I feel like I’m on top of things and don’t feel like my trauma defines me and I don’t feel so ashamed and scared. Other times I want to hide from the world and feel like a **** (I’m not going to say the word here since I don’t want to trigger anyone) 😭, I feel so ashamed that I don’t want people to know

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

@Birdofparadise8, I recommend it, the peer support worker I have is really nice. I see a lot of value in peer support workers, we have the lovely @Jynx here to prove it💖

@Jynx, I think I created a narrative (the less painful story) and pretended it was the truth. It didn’t work out for me in the long run, thoughts eventually seep into the conscious mind. Now I need to accept that I don’t know certain things right now. Those trauma details do not change my self worth because I didn’t do anything to ask for whatever did happen

Yeah, I know @creative_writer

The one I had last year through the GS was really good. Yeah @Jynx is great. Everyone here is.

@creative_writer @Birdofparadise8 Daww you guys!! 😍😊💜 I'm blushing now hehe

@creative_writer perhaps that was what you needed to do to survive that time in your life, and that's not a bad thing. And you're darn right that it is not a reflection of your self-worth! It's hard to sit in uncertainty, but sounds like you are able to reassure yourself of the important stuff.

@Birdofparadise8, I feel like we need more services. Medicare rebated sessions are so limited. My psych also has a gap, even if I was to increase my cover, I fear the sessions will still be expensive.

@Jynx, you deserve every bit 💖. I think telling myself that narrative did help at the time, but there was a conflict between conscious and subconscious mind which had to come out eventually. I know it’s hard to understand without much context. I do think it is best to talk to psych about the details during my appointment

Oh yeah, I feel you. I see my psych weekly, and it's $210 for the session.

I have $400 for my private health, and then I'm nearly at the concession safety net, so I'll get ten sessions for $20 and get 80% back for ten sessions. I really pay for one, so that's not too bad. @creative_writer

Is yours similar to mine in price? But my parents are paying for it at the moment. All medical stuff is covered until I get a full-time job, so that's really helpful.

Nah I can understand the basics @creative_writer I think, like I said it makes sense as your brain protecting you so that you could get on with life at the time, and now it's coming out because it probably needs to. I hope chatting to your psych helps you unravel it all and get some clarity and some peace.

I'm off for tonight, always lovely chatting 💜 And with you as well @Birdofparadise8! Have good evenings both of you lovely peeps! Toodles!

@Birdofparadise8, that sounds like really good cover for psych sessions. My current insurance does not include psych sessions but I think it’s worth looking into. Increasing cover might not be a bad idea considering how my physical health has also been.

@Jynx, it did have to come out eventually. It took me a very long time to process things. Initially I felt very detached with what happened, it didn't feel like it happened to me. I was very troubled during early years of uni when the trauma happened. Constant severe mood swings left me feeling like a human yo-yo

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

What level of cover do you have @creative_writer

I have gold with top extras. I'm on my parent's insurance.

It sucks that I'll always need gold cover to go to a private psych ward.

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

@Birdofparadise8, I have my own insurance that is pretty basic starting cover. I don’t think mine would cover psych ward, it doesn’t even cover my meds that is not Medicare rebated. When I was on my parents, they had a more extensive cover that covered psych sessions, physio, possibly psych ward and other private hospital admissions

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

Ah okay. Yeah mine covers no PBS meds as well @creative_writer

You haven't been in a psych ward have you just the ED one.
