Oscillation between two mind sets

Oscillation between two mind sets

Sometimes I feel like I’m on top of things and don’t feel like my trauma defines me and I don’t feel so ashamed and scared. Other times I want to hide from the world and feel like a **** (I’m not going to say the word here since I don’t want to trigger anyone) 😭, I feel so ashamed that I don’t want people to know

Coping is coping, is what I say @creative_writer. Obviously the preference is to encourage and prioritise using healthy coping tools, but also the biggest priority is you staying alive. I'm sorry that things have gotten so very heavy for you that it feels like an option. Do you feel like you have enough support at the moment, someone you can talk to about the increase in SI?

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

@Jynx, I have supports. I just had my psych appointment on Monday, and psych nurse appointment last week. I see both of them monthly. I have a pdoc who I see every two months ish (coming up in March), and PSW in between. Maybe at this point it’s best I take PRN and see if I can break the cycle. I can’t keep taking PRN though, this will be the third one in the last few days

If it helps you refrain from doing risky stuff @creative_writer then maybe it's the best choice. Could be something to chat to your pdoc about in March too, just getting some input on how best to use your prn, or talk about some other options for when things get really heavy like they are now.

Did you get to talk to your psych about how things have been lately?

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

@Jynx, I did. I was okay that morning after taking PRN the day before so I wasn’t at the heightened state at that moment. She advised against was I was thinking of doing to cope with the emotional pain, because it’s a slippery slope, I know I can start justifying it for physical issues too. I know I can always move the pdoc appointment sooner if needed. I’ll see how I feel tomorrow. Today hasn’t been a good day, even from the start. I woke up feeling low, and was haunted by memories I wanted to forget first thing in the morning. Depression really does make intrusive memories worse, and it also works the other way around

@creative_writer I'm glad your team is so supportive, and that you can shift things around if you need that support sooner.

It is a very slippery slope, though it sounds like you have plenty of awareness around warning signs and things to look out for, like using it for physical relief too. I believe in you, in your ability to navigate this in a healthy way!

A very rough day for you, but it's nearly over! You'll never have to do today again. I'm logging off for tonight so I'll chat to you again tomorrow if you're about. I'll leave you with this one 💜

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

@Jynx, I’m feeling better today after PRN. Is it possible for humans to feel fulfilled and happy and not need any form of deep relationships. Like they don’t need emotional support from others and can only get by through the usage of their own resources? Can one ever reach that level and how does one reach that level? I’m not the type of person who wants to rely on people, I’m not even good at seeking out for support. Is there any way around it that doesn’t involve reaching out for support more often? I don’t want to have to reach out more often. My natural instinct is to withdraw and I only feel comfortable that way

Heya @creative_writer ,

How's things? I hear you feel a little better after the PRN?

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

@tyme, can I ever be independent? I don’t like the idea of needing support. I shouldn’t need support and should handle things by myself like so many times before. How do I make my heart listen to my mind? I don’t want to be needy

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

Yes. @creative_writer Short answer is YES. How you go about it, I can't say. But yes....

I often asked that same question in the past...

Your time will come, but it means taking little steps towards it as much as you can.

You are not alone @creative_writer

@tyme, I wish I didn’t need all the professional supports I have. I don’t want to be in therapy forever. I waste enough people’s time. Friendship and family wise, I don’t really talk much about my problems so I got that covered. I just want to get to the stage when I need no one and only God. Maybe one day I’ll have my shit together
