Oscillation between two mind sets

Oscillation between two mind sets

Sometimes I feel like I’m on top of things and don’t feel like my trauma defines me and I don’t feel so ashamed and scared. Other times I want to hide from the world and feel like a **** (I’m not going to say the word here since I don’t want to trigger anyone) 😭, I feel so ashamed that I don’t want people to know

@Zoe7, trying to resist urges. I know it’s easy for things to get out of control if not addressed at onset. I already suspected that I had addictive tendencies.

I hope the packing goes well. The kids sound so sweet. Will you be moving to another classroom in the same school? I hope you do take breaks in between to take care of yourself, you deserve every bit of self care 💖

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

Just moving 2 classes down @creative_writer So I will be in the same area next year and in the same team. My new classroom is actually dark green so I will feel right at home (my favourite colour 💚). I have already made all the signs and name tags etc. - will print them out this week ready to put up next year.

I will be getting the kids to do most of the moving. For now we are just boxing things up to store in next year's classroom - I will unpack everything next year but having things altogether and labelled will help. I cannot move anything until the present teacher does but our Principal works out a really good timetable for all moving teachers (and gives us some time to move) so it should be quite easy.

It is easy to let things get out of control but you are aware of that and that is really important. Can you do something really nice for yourself to break those urges?

@Zoe7, green is a soothing colour 💚. It probably explains why nature can be so soothing. Can I ask if you work in a primary or high school?

I had a cuppa of peppermint tea, it was refreshing and my mouth doesn’t feel as dry. I’ll be having lunch in a bit and will watch some TV. I’m contemplating whether to go into uni tomorrow. It might be good for me to get out of the house. Ideally want to do a blend of in person and home during my final week of placement. Just four days of placement to go

Primary school @creative_writer I have a grade 1 next year. I actually started in a College and spent the first couple of years in a high school. I have been in primary schools for the last 20 years though.

I hope you can get into uni tomorrow. Those changes in our days can help. I am going into the garage soon to get some small pieces of timber for my kids to make trees this week. They can then decorate them as they like.

@Zoe7, young kids are certainly cute and so innocent.

Sometimes changes do help. I hope the tree decorating goes well. You do sound like a very hands on teacher, I think kids do need that, particularly the younger ones

I agree @creative_writer Most kids love to work things out for themselves so giving them those opportunities are important to me.

@Zoe7, kids are sponges and are absorbing a lot. I do believe by doing things they learn more. Do you have plans over the holidays?

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

No @creative_writer Everything has been put on the backburner until I can get my back right. It is going to take a lot to not wish I could do things but I just can't so have to accept it.

What about you? Any plans?

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

@Zoe7, sometimes a good rest is all we need. I don’t have plans either, I don’t do Christmas. I need to slow down for my physical health. I’ve gotten sick quite a lot over the past few months too

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets

You have been dealing with a lot alongside study @creative_writer so hopefully a slowdown and break will be good for you too.

Had a lovely morning with my kids - we can officially do Christmas stuff at school so we went a bit silly today lol. The kids had a lot of fun though and cleaned up their (substantial) mess. I have some different things for them to do tomorrow and then Wednesday will be a sorting out and movie morning. Their last day on Thursday is a lot of school based things so we need to get most of the classroom stuff sorted by Wednesday. I cannot believe I will only have these kids for another few days - the year has flown!!!
