Sometimes I feel like I’m on top of things and don’t feel like my trauma defines me and I don’t feel so ashamed and scared. Other times I want to hide from the world and feel like a **** (I’m not going to say the word here since I don’t want to trigger anyone) 😭, I feel so ashamed that I don’t want people to know
@Zoe7, I just don’t want to have to talk about it, at least on a deeper level. I’m okay with superficial. I don’t feel like talking about it in detail will get me anywhere. I don’t want the past to not affect me so much.
@Jynx, there is a sleepy cat by my window if that counts. When I was younger I used to judge people who engaged in behaviours to numb emotional pain. I’ve done exactly that today. I’m okay though physically but not so much emotionally

@creative_writer We don't need to talk through things in deeper details to be able to get through things. The biggest turning point for me was actually the day that we (my team) decided that looking back was so re-traumatising that it had to stop - and recovery then really began. I won't say it was an easy road but having that weight off my shoulders and looking forward instead of constantly back was a life saver. Of course that does not mean that the traumas do not rear their heads sometimes, nor are there days that are incredibly difficult, but finding that path forward continues.

@Zoe7, I am glad it worked out for you hun 💖. I think I may need more or less the same. Though I have noticed conversation naturally becoming less focused on the details of the trauma over time. I do have an appointment with psych nurse on Friday, I can talk about things then, I don’t have to be more open than I want to.
On reflection, I sort of wish I had taken the PRN today instead of being impulsive and stupid. I just never thought of that earlier, I’m so stupid. I’m already starting to regret doing it, even if it has no long term ramifications, probably not the healthiest route to take

Mistakes are just opportunities to learn @creative_writer❤️ So not stupid, just in a different headspace at the time.

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets
@Zoe7💖. It’s true we all make mistakes. The scary part is being impulsive and stupid made me feel better emotionally, I’m still feeling the difference, I know I can’t routinely do this since it will have ramifications over the long term. I do know there are healthier ways to cope with emotional pain

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets
It's a process @creative_writer To learn anything takes time and practice - and that is just the same for physical tasks as it is for emotional ones - and of course we can never be perfect at any of it so there will be stumbles and falls. The biggest learning is then to get back up, find the path again and continue on (and sometimes that means we are at a different point on that path and have to redo some of it).

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets
@Zoe7, it is a process. As humans, it is hard to get desperate and fall into unhelpful patterns. I feel like my healing as been all over the place, but I guess that’s the nature of it. I’ve had moments where I feel like I’m getting through it all, other times I’m struggling. I do find weekends hard, maybe it’s tends to be more quiet and I am exhausted after a long week. I know there are only four more days to go for this week before I get a break and then I can rest up. That time off does scare me though since I’ll have more thinking time

Those times off to think more are hard @creative_writer I will be around in the holidays so please tag me when you need Hon - more than happy to be here for you ❤️
We don't finish until Friday - and I have quite a bit to do this week - but then I can have a break also. I need to start getting the kids to take things home so I can also start packing things to move. I haven't had to move classes for a couple of years so it will be a lot to do. I have already started bringing things home to store to make the move a little easier. As I cannot lift much, it has been a lot of small boxes - and the kids have helped pack everything into the car ❤️
