While in hospital

While in hospital

Today I wrote to the local hospital to complain about my treatment on the weekend.
When I first arrived in ED I was treated with care and empathy. Due to my physical complaint and my mental illness I was reassured each time a test was being done by the doctor. Then I was transferred to short stay unit. Again I was given great care. But during the night I got worse temp went sky high I was dehydrated snd almost fainted.
The nurse called a dr to come and see me. He was the rudest doctor I have ever had. He was short abrupt and said "oh you only have a cold". Had he checked my notes he would have seen I had to have a ct scan for possible blood clot. And that I had to speak to CAT team. And that the doctor in ED wrote down high heart rate and wheeze in chest. He spoke to me like I was a little kid.

I feel that because of my mental illness I wasn't treated right. I never want this doctor to treat me agsin. And it's the second time I've had him and both times he was terrible. No bedside manner at all. So after thinking about it today I decided to write and put my complain in writing. I don't need to be treated like this.

I'm hoping to hear back from the hospital.

Hi @Appleblossom
You're not a nerd!!! Lol 😊
You've been so kind to me always giving me great advice and support.

I had a terrible night waking up 12.30, 2.30 and then at 5am with uncontrollably crying. Feeling guilty for being in here. Manage to sleep a little bit much after night nurse gave me some med. then at breakfast I lost it agsin crying so much. That black dog was on me all morning. I ended up speaking to a nurse and she gave me another med and I went back to bed
I'm still coughing. Feel crap. Hubby has gone to see his mum and picking me up on way home. Prob stay home for dinner. Might try to go for a walk if I have any energy. Better go. I'll come back on tonight.

I'm glad you working your way through it! I know how you feel about your mum, its the same for me.

It really hurts knowing that you havent had the mother or father you have wanted its the same for me too - thats not our fault and we have to keep moving forward. Keep fighting you are having break throughs - I'm really proud of you!

Re: While in hospital

Hi @BlueBay

I am so sorry you have to do all of this crying - but you have to get this out of your system - you have recognised how things stand with your mother and what she has done - and you have to get your grief work done

It's good that you are in hospital while you are going though this - there are people around who can care for you and help you while you are going through all of this -

Maybe one reason it has been so hard - you have felt everything coming at you - was because of all this pushed-down grief -

And grief is so hard to deal with - that's why they call it "Grief Work" - it's really hard work - probably the hardest work you will ever do in your life

Thinking of you today Blue - don't push yourself with the groups - you have a very tired body there with your heavy cold and asthma - I hope you have that private room now

And take it easy

Re: While in hospital

Hi @Change123 and @Decadian and everyone else
It's hard some days I don't want to do anymore I want to give up. But a part of me wants to keep going for my kids.
I've been so sick physically with this damn asthma and cough. It's settling down a bit now. Just had chest X-ray. Echo cardiogram tomorrow afternoon. Saw my psych today told him not sleeping awake again this morning at 5am crying. No energy or motivation although I did join group this morning for a walk and coffee. I think my psych understands how bad I am.
I spoke to hubby this morning and asked what shld we do about our finances. He said he was worried to but he told me to not stress to just rest up. I told him that it's hard I'm stressing so much. And then I cried. He said he'll go to bank to see what we can do. After I hung up I really wanted to say thank you and that I love him. So I called back and told him that. He told me he loves me too.
That took a lot of effort to say that but I did.
Surprised myself. I know he wants me better and he misses me at home but for now i am in the best place.
Better go and rest up feeling tired.
Take care everyone. Chat soon. 💕💕💕

Re: While in hospital

Today I'm feeling sorry for myself. Depressed sad emotional angry every possible emotion I'm feeling.
Tension stress causing my headaches and neck pain. Need to get out and get fresh air. I feel I could just walk and walk.
Group therapy today with psychologist it's not easy I hate group. Think I better get out of here for a while. I'm so upset. So sick of crying so sick of everything.

Re: While in hospital

I hear you @BlueBay and I understand

You feel really terrible

It's because MI doesn't have all the physical stuff visible - if you had an operation to remove all the feelings you had about your mother you would be wired up and have tubes coming out of you and they would be giving you pain medication

And you would be feeling terrible and want to get out of there

And this is the same - only nothiing can be seen

Take it easy and rest while you can - talk to the nurses who you know are nice people and understand. I am sure they understand how terrible everything feels right now esp with that bad cough and asthma

Sending lots of hugs

Re: While in hospital

@BlueBay

You will be ok, just try to use this time to help yourself. Yes you hate group and the stress but try to see the positives and how you may learn some skills. Its good listening to others and what they do, you might find more coping techniques and also leanr from their experiences. Its also good just to talk to people face to face that "get you"!. Think of this as a time to learn about yourself and grow as a person.

When you go for a walk try to think of positives and think of what you like at the moment :ie. think of the fresh air how nice it is, think of the trees and birds, happy things to stop you from crying.

You can do this you are strong, I know you feel vulnerable and exposed and everything just hurts but you have to turn it around - only you can do this.

Take care and keep fighting!

You are so wise @Change123 and often say the things I wish I had said

It's okay to feel so bad @BlueBay- not fun at all - but it's perfectly normal

Re: While in hospital

@BlueBay. You are dealing with a lot at the moment, so I'm glad you are in a safe place.
Group therapy took me a while to get used to as well. Sometimes I would go and not say anything. Listening was hard enough. Other times I would participate more.
Try and take away from therapy what you can. Try and practice a few of the techniques they talk about in group. Even if you've tried it in the past & it didn't work. Now is the time - while in a safe place where the staff and othercclients can help you - to try again.
Let the tears come.
Let the grief come.
Let the anger and disappointment come.
Then let it go.
You can do this @BlueBay. You will succeed. I believe in you. ♥♥
