While in hospital

While in hospital

Today I wrote to the local hospital to complain about my treatment on the weekend.
When I first arrived in ED I was treated with care and empathy. Due to my physical complaint and my mental illness I was reassured each time a test was being done by the doctor. Then I was transferred to short stay unit. Again I was given great care. But during the night I got worse temp went sky high I was dehydrated snd almost fainted.
The nurse called a dr to come and see me. He was the rudest doctor I have ever had. He was short abrupt and said "oh you only have a cold". Had he checked my notes he would have seen I had to have a ct scan for possible blood clot. And that I had to speak to CAT team. And that the doctor in ED wrote down high heart rate and wheeze in chest. He spoke to me like I was a little kid.

I feel that because of my mental illness I wasn't treated right. I never want this doctor to treat me agsin. And it's the second time I've had him and both times he was terrible. No bedside manner at all. So after thinking about it today I decided to write and put my complain in writing. I don't need to be treated like this.

I'm hoping to hear back from the hospital.

Hi @NikNik if this is not allowed pls delete.

While in hospital I have been given meds for Attention deficit disorder. I don't feel I have ADD but apparently this new med is to lift my mood and energy. It's a stimulant. It's affecting my appetite where I don't feel or want to eat.
I wasn't sure if I could put this on here but I'm struggling to come to terms with something no one has ever mentioned before. Do I trust my psych.
Has anyone else been diagnosed with ADD?

It's a good question @BlueBay

I would make sure you're keeping track of what effects the medication is having - which I would recommend regardless of which medication you have started.

It's important to report back to your psychiatrist how the medication is impacting you.

Re: While in hospital

@BlueBay. Sorry I was out this afternoon / night - cooling off in a friends pool and having a bbq and a few drinks.
I'm sorry they are doing that to you - re: the excess costs for the program. It's just wrong.

Re: While in hospital

Hi @BlueBay

I read your post about the excess of $250.00 yesterday - and it seems a lot but is your health not more important?

There's no need to answer but is it a case that you cannot afford the $250.00 or that you just don't have it? - because when I was on the pension and would have needed something like that it would have been a priority.

It is rough though

I don't anything about ADD medication - I would assume it would slow you down - I haven't read any evidence of your having ADD though - my son had ADD and ADHD and oh man!! he could not have written sense the way you do - ah - that is something you must talk to your psyche about

You are having a really crappy time right now - okay - it is okay to have a crappy time - horrible true - but it seems to me that nothing has been coming together to help you - I have been reading your posts all these months and in one sense you are moving along but the last month or so it has been worse

But the mother stuff - not everyone - even your psyche will understand that - people could not know unless their mother had treated them so badly - and this is hard - and you have worked out you will not see her again - and that is huge grief work - HUGE -

You want it to be better - eventually it will be - right now - for your MIL - I guess she doesn't really know it's Christmas - and she doesn't really know where she is right now - and might be miserable but will forget it when you have all gone.

A quiet Christmas with your kids - not exciting but okay - get them to wrap each other's presents -

It will be alright - it will

Re: While in hospital

Hi @Decadian
I guess I can save up the money over a few weeks and then go.
It's just right now I can't afford it because I haven't worked. And I've been told by my psychologist to have this week off.
I think realising what I have reg my mum is hard and I know I have a lot of work to go through with my psychologist.
Yeah this new med for ADHD I don't get. My psych told me it will give me a boost lift my mood and energy. All it's done so far is make me feel sick and not eat. I've lost nearly 2kg since Wednesday when I left the hospital. I've never ever been diagnosed with this before. I am not seeing my psych until 10 Jan but seeing my psychologist next Friday. I will speak with her.
I'm at the moment resting inside with air con on. The streets this morning were chaos with so many tourists and I can't even begin to describe the supermarket. OMG!!! And this is just day 1 of 5-6 weeks of this busyness ☹️️ Good for local shops etc but it's nice when they all go home. Can then have beach to ourselves.
Are you organised for Christmas?

Re: While in hospital

Hi @BlueBay

Yeah - it sounds weird to give you medication to give you a boost if you have ADD and/of ADHD but then my son has these two and his metabolism worked in reverse so when he had medication it was the opposite -so yes - it slowed him down

I have an idea of what you are taking and that is possibly not right for you - but I question your psyche and wonder if he is right for you - making you waiting to get into hospital then you are not in there long enough and your medication is constantly being changed

But hey - don't stop taking it - that can be really bad - none of this medication can just be stopped

Also - I know you go to a small hospital - there are bigger ones where there is a programme going on all day and the groups are different - like communications and assertiveness and - wondering what went on all those years ago - more than just art which is good - but all day - which means there is a lot happening

But from what you say you are happiest alone - so that is something easier to work on. Have some day dreams on the new place you will chose and insist on your own space - where you can do your art and knitting and just be yourself without having to account for your time or worry about Huffnpuff wanting to tidy up behind you when you need to leave your art work as it is

Aw - that would make such a difference - your life just as you want it - wtg

My Christmas was fine - and now I am tired - I felt like going back to bed a couple of hours ago but I am still here - typing away - and I have watered the garden.

All the best - take you time and insist on some space for yourself right now too

Re: While in hospital

Hi @Decadian
I still don't understand my psychs reason for this new med. all I know is that I've lost about 3kg since last Wednesday.
I woke up late had breakfast on the deck and did some washing. I then thought I'm going for a walk down the beach so off I went. And from where I was I could see the spirit of Tasmania leaving!!! Now I'm in a cafe sitting on my own having coffee. So nice to not be restricted. I'll go home after and mop the floor and easy afternoon. Oh actually my son got me a anti stress candle (must be bad for him to buy that!!!) so I'll put the candle on and "distress".
Take it easy today enjoy your day and have a happy one.
