While in hospital

While in hospital

Today I wrote to the local hospital to complain about my treatment on the weekend.
When I first arrived in ED I was treated with care and empathy. Due to my physical complaint and my mental illness I was reassured each time a test was being done by the doctor. Then I was transferred to short stay unit. Again I was given great care. But during the night I got worse temp went sky high I was dehydrated snd almost fainted.
The nurse called a dr to come and see me. He was the rudest doctor I have ever had. He was short abrupt and said "oh you only have a cold". Had he checked my notes he would have seen I had to have a ct scan for possible blood clot. And that I had to speak to CAT team. And that the doctor in ED wrote down high heart rate and wheeze in chest. He spoke to me like I was a little kid.

I feel that because of my mental illness I wasn't treated right. I never want this doctor to treat me agsin. And it's the second time I've had him and both times he was terrible. No bedside manner at all. So after thinking about it today I decided to write and put my complain in writing. I don't need to be treated like this.

I'm hoping to hear back from the hospital.

Re: While in hospital

@BlueBay. All the best for your stay in hospital. We all need a break from time to time or a tune up. A chance to feel better and to refocus.
Make the most of your time. Recharge your batteries while focusing on number one.
I look forward to catching up when you get back.

Thanks @utopia xxx
I just wish they wouldn't play Xmas carols in the unit where I'm staying. It's triggering. But can't say anything cause that would ruin it for everyone else. So much decorations everywhere.
Didn't sleep well damn asthma cough and now I have a headache. Maybe I should just leave. Maybe it's all a mistake. Coming here. I don't know. I'm so confused. I just want to cry and get a hug from someone.

Re: While in hospital

@BlueBay big hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you speak to a doctor next why dont you tell them how you feel, how you feel trapped and suffocated - maybe they will do something.

Remember this is your time to get better, its not a mistake its what you need to recharge and get well. Since we are very similar I trying to think how I would feel and I think one of the major drivers would be fear, not knowing if this will work, not liking the surroundings, not nice nurses and I too would feel like it was a mistake but I also know if I left I would regret it later as you may not get another chance or you may have to wait longer. Have you got headphones or something so you can listen to other music - I relate with carols I hate them too.

You can do this and you know you will feel better after - like you did last time!

Keep posting we are all here for you!

Re: While in hospital

Hi @BlueBay

There must be a different nurse on by now - tell him or her how you are feeling - they could give you something for your asthma and maybe a calming tablet -

And @Change123 has said some great stuff - after waiting this long to get into hospital wait around - that private room will come free soon - people will be getting up and leaving at the weekend no doubt

Oh dear - Christmas decorations and music - ah - don't worry about the other people and spoiling things for them - but alas - that is the order of the season - as phony as it all sounds at times - even for believers like myself - I find that hard and offends my sight and hearing at times

I'm sending hugs - virtual hugs and of course - my favourite - the kitty hugs

Please dond't leave the hospital - surely you can go outside and breathe for a few minutes - ask if you can do that from time to time

Re: While in hospital

@BlueBay. It's confronting when you go back to hospital. Yes you want to feal better & get back on your feet - but we do have to 'feel' our emotions & deal with people / situations we may not like.
Hang in there. As @Decadian said - a private room will be yours soon & that will make things easier.
Be honest with the nurses and doctors about how you are feeling - emotionally and physically. They are there to help.
The first few days are the toughest. Concentrate on your coloring in or your knitting. Focus on creating something beautiful.
And try and join in on the therapy sessions - art, or anxiety or relaxation classes.
A big hug to you.

Re: While in hospital

Still here still crap
Asthma not good coughing most of night giving me terrible headaches not helping mental state
Twitched my back from coughing
Seeing second psych today for an opinion to add an extra med.
I've been really down
Can't go out for walks because of my cough
Wide awake at 2am this morning
I'm so over feeling like this
Very anxious last night wanted to run away and felt claustrophobic in my area with curtains around.
Not sure how long I'll be in here but I keep thinking of no money all I could think of last night.
Hope everyone is doing ok. I feel so alone 😥

Re: While in hospital

We are here for you @BlueBay - we all care and understand

Yes - you are worried about money - so it's better you are in hospital now rather than in January when you will have to pay that excess again

And I know there is nothing that will stop you from worrying about it - but really - let Huffnpuff deal with that - a few days of your not working will not matter in 10 years - a year even

Still here you are - when you sell the house you can pay you commitments

Lots of hugs Blue
