While in hospital

While in hospital

Today I wrote to the local hospital to complain about my treatment on the weekend.
When I first arrived in ED I was treated with care and empathy. Due to my physical complaint and my mental illness I was reassured each time a test was being done by the doctor. Then I was transferred to short stay unit. Again I was given great care. But during the night I got worse temp went sky high I was dehydrated snd almost fainted.
The nurse called a dr to come and see me. He was the rudest doctor I have ever had. He was short abrupt and said "oh you only have a cold". Had he checked my notes he would have seen I had to have a ct scan for possible blood clot. And that I had to speak to CAT team. And that the doctor in ED wrote down high heart rate and wheeze in chest. He spoke to me like I was a little kid.

I feel that because of my mental illness I wasn't treated right. I never want this doctor to treat me agsin. And it's the second time I've had him and both times he was terrible. No bedside manner at all. So after thinking about it today I decided to write and put my complain in writing. I don't need to be treated like this.

I'm hoping to hear back from the hospital.

Re: While in hospital

OH you made me laugh!

Sometimes I wonder how would they survive without us, oh I know pizza boxes thrown everywhere, not cleaned up 🙂

Going back to work could be a good thing, I know thats the last thing you want to do but its a distraction and keeps your mind occupied plus gives you abreak from the other crap.

I was a bit like that when I got home lst night after all the crap, last thing I want was to go home and find one of his mates there and the kitchen looking like a bomb went off. The friend actually aplogised and offered to help me but I wasnt angry with him just felt angry so I went outside and had a play with my boy - helped plus I probably shouldnt say this "one brandy I had that was half brandy half coke" that it calmed me down enough to make me realise I need to calm down more and I did.

Anyway must go and see what crap I need to endure tonight!

Take care @BlueBay chat tomorrow.

Go Girl @BlueBay

The CAT team can only support you staying in your family situation. You probably really need to be putting out those expectations on your boys; big & little. Or putting similar limits or boundaries in when you are not 100%.

MAN FLU is a real but often invisible issue which women carry ... and men deny .. it would be especially grating when you were just insulted at the hospital... on the other hand my dad was mocked for malingering in the ED on the day before he died ... everything in context.

I agree with @Change123 You made me laugh too. You dont need to apologise.

It is the only fair way I know .. when backed into corners ..

To harness your rage and try and use it humourously and fairly

Often the boys think they are the only ones with a funny bone.

But female wit can be superb.

Hi @Shaz51
I hope you're hubby is ok with his meds.

Talking about hubby's - we've had a fight. He storms off and tells me he's sick of being a punching bag !!! Had dinner not talking to him. I cleaned up. And just now he goes off in the car and yells out "going out". WTF
Why do I feel like disappearing forever. I want to run away from this life. My life is one big mess I am a big mess.

Omg I just tried the CAT team but no answer so I came on here.
I can't stop coughing. I am so over everything right now.

Re: While in hospital

Hi @NikNik@CherryBomb@Decadian@Shaz51@Appleblossom@Change123@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@Silenus@utopia and all other moderators and friends i have missed

Today I am going into a private mental health hospital. 15 minutes down the road from home. I am lucky I have been there a few times now so I know the drill. I will be in a shared room with 2-3 others but once a private room becomes available I will get one.

My oldest son (23) is taking me in this morning; he is not happy that i am going back in. he can't understand the reasons why i need to go to hospital. my youngest (20) left for work this morning and said to me 'have a nice holiday'; my daughter (24) gave me a kiss and said I will call in after work on way home.

My hubby rang before from work and said take care. So many mixed messages but i lthink they all know that i need this break again.

I have been thinking long and hard about this stay this time. I did feel guilty yesterday thinking that I was selfish and shouldn't go. But I thought about it and thought no this is a break for me; sometimes when things are out of my control and are overwhelming I need a break to reset myself again. I need support from the nursing staff, the psychologists there, the group therapy and just time for me.

I will hopefully be allowed to go for walks which i will do on my own. I have brought my knitting with me and my new mindfulness colouring book.

I am not sure if i will be on here much, I try not to when in hospital. I know that when i come out i think different again, and can see things differently. I'm hoping this happens again.

I hope everyone takes care. looking forward to chatting again soon.

love Bluebay

@BlueBay Take care and just think of yourself while you are in there!

Re: While in hospital

Hi @BlueBay

Of course they are not happy that you are taking this time for yourself - after all - they will have to attend to things for themselves - you do a lot for them when you are home - I know this

But still - forget about that for now and think only of yourself - this is a time for you to heal -

And it is better for you to contact us less when you are working hard on yourself -
