While in hospital

While in hospital

Today I wrote to the local hospital to complain about my treatment on the weekend.
When I first arrived in ED I was treated with care and empathy. Due to my physical complaint and my mental illness I was reassured each time a test was being done by the doctor. Then I was transferred to short stay unit. Again I was given great care. But during the night I got worse temp went sky high I was dehydrated snd almost fainted.
The nurse called a dr to come and see me. He was the rudest doctor I have ever had. He was short abrupt and said "oh you only have a cold". Had he checked my notes he would have seen I had to have a ct scan for possible blood clot. And that I had to speak to CAT team. And that the doctor in ED wrote down high heart rate and wheeze in chest. He spoke to me like I was a little kid.

I feel that because of my mental illness I wasn't treated right. I never want this doctor to treat me agsin. And it's the second time I've had him and both times he was terrible. No bedside manner at all. So after thinking about it today I decided to write and put my complain in writing. I don't need to be treated like this.

I'm hoping to hear back from the hospital.

Re: While in hospital

Thanks @utopia

Of course - groups in hospital - when I was a frequent attender I liked the groups - I can't remember what happened then of course - it is all so long ago - I don't think I would fit in there now - it might take a long time but there is light at the end of the tunnel regarding most kinds of Emotional Discomfort

Okay - I drifted back into my memories there for a while - so glad I don't go there now - maybe there is a time when it wears off - I don't even remember when I stopped going -

But yes - we are a family of sorts here and the acceptance of one another is wonderful - social chat or full-on support - we will be here for each other as always - after all - it's just a day and for many people just another day - which can be painful because we lack a lot of family contact or just family

Thanks for the heads-up Utopia - all things being equal I will be here on Christmas Day while other people in my family attend Christmas dinner elsewhere.

Hi @BlueBay, @utopia, @Decadian, @Former-Member & @Appleblossom,

Just to answer your question, the forum will not close over christmas so you will still be able to continue all of your discussions as well as join in on other Christmas threads that will be happening on the day. Christmas can certainly be a hard time for many of us and it is great that you all want to share in the day together.

I hope this puts some minds at ease

Thanks @Former-Member

That is reasuring - I would have been surprised if the site had closed over Christmas - it has never happened in any of the other sites or groups I have been in

We need each other all the time here - Christmas Day particularly

I wish the moderators the best for Christmas also

Re: While in hospital

Thank you @Former-Member. I think I'll need it.
Also to let everyone know I'm going home Wednesday. My psych feels it will be good to go home and spend a few days home before Xmas.

Re: While in hospital

I don't feel like I'm ready to go but they are closing the ward. I know I eventually have to go home but I'm not ready and they just push you out.
I hate my life right now. He doesn't get it. I wish I could just die. I'm tired and so damn emotional from not sleeping. In my room don't want to do art therapy. Waiting for my daughter to call in for a coffee. I'm so sick of being emotional. I wish I could run away. Still have tonight and tomo night. I still have time.

Hang in there @BlueBay. I know it mustn't feel like the break you needed mentally while being so unwell physically too. I hope you family offers you the support you need when you come out of hospital. Hopefully just being together over Christmas will help and remind you of your beautiful family and the reasons to stay for them. 💜🤗

Re: While in hospital

@BlueBayHave you got a spare room, bed, cosy corner .. or lovely alcove for you to have healing time in when you get back home?

At first I thought it was a weird idea .. but even my cats seem to like special places in the house. Your homw is dominated by males and you have given a lot for them .. so can you claim something .. that would make things work for you .. some people have a sewing or craft room etc.,

Re: While in hospital

No @Appleblossom no spare room for me. The only space I get is outside watering the garden. Hubby has his garage where he can go. I have nowhere. I need to start getting rid of crap at home so we can sell. So much to do. I can't even think. I'm feeling overwhelmed.
