While in hospital

While in hospital

Today I wrote to the local hospital to complain about my treatment on the weekend.
When I first arrived in ED I was treated with care and empathy. Due to my physical complaint and my mental illness I was reassured each time a test was being done by the doctor. Then I was transferred to short stay unit. Again I was given great care. But during the night I got worse temp went sky high I was dehydrated snd almost fainted.
The nurse called a dr to come and see me. He was the rudest doctor I have ever had. He was short abrupt and said "oh you only have a cold". Had he checked my notes he would have seen I had to have a ct scan for possible blood clot. And that I had to speak to CAT team. And that the doctor in ED wrote down high heart rate and wheeze in chest. He spoke to me like I was a little kid.

I feel that because of my mental illness I wasn't treated right. I never want this doctor to treat me agsin. And it's the second time I've had him and both times he was terrible. No bedside manner at all. So after thinking about it today I decided to write and put my complain in writing. I don't need to be treated like this.

I'm hoping to hear back from the hospital.

Re: While in hospital

Hi @BlueBay,

I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling emotionally drained tonight. Wow, you've been sick for 4 weeks, that's no good! I imagine that would be impacting your mood too - our physical and mental health do interact so much! I hope that you recover from your cough soon and feel better. Although you are struggling tonight, do you feel more secure being in hospital?

Ooh I agree with @utopia that something knitted would make a great gift!

Re: While in hospital

Hi @Shimmer
I'm really not coping. Thoughts of running away forever sounds good. I'm struggling physically. It's exhausting. I'm a crying mess.
Just took a tab to help with sleep. Sorry can't write more I want to but am exhausted.
I wish I could get a hug.
@utopia I have my knitting with me. Stuffed up the baby jacket so I've given up. Now knitting a baby rug with same stuff I used for the bags. No Xmas shopping it's all too much.
I am so done I don't know how to get better. It's draining.

Re: While in hospital

@BlueBay. I know you are struggling with your emotions at the moment. But stick with it. It will get easier.
I'm thinking of you and sending you a big supportive hug.
You've taken your tablets - so see if you can sleep now.

You are where you need to be to get support during this difficult time @BlueBay. That's okay that you are too tired to post more, I hope you sleep well.

@utopia is right, things will get better, stick with it.

Re: While in hospital

Hi @utopia @Shimmer and everyone else
I did manage to sleep all night. I woke up at 6am and now I am showered and dressed waiting for breakfast. Then off to my session with new psychologist. Bit scary. Don't know how I will feel afterwards. Might need to come back to my room and hibernate. The sun is out and shining through my room with a beautiful tree outside my window. I just want to get better and feel better physically. I told my psych yesterday I'm not going to work until after Xmas because of my zero energy levels. He didn't say anything just kept writing. I told him that I haven't been this down before that this time it's worse. I think now he is listening. Chat later. 💕💕💕

Re: While in hospital

Hi @utopia and everyone else (sorry hard to type all name on my phone)
Session was ok emotional but she is lovely. She can't believe my mum and told me she will help me. Having to go through all the past has been triggering all day. Came back and nurse gave me a med to calm down. Had lunch but couldn't stop crying. So I went back to bed with more meds for my throbbing headache.
Have to see new psychologist the week after Christmas.
I've no energy to do anything at the moment. Hubby is coming later to take me out for dinner.

Re: While in hospital

Had the worse night. Couldn't sleep. Kept waking up every few hours. Think today will be a slow day. Hubby and son are going shopping at a big shopping centre and I don't want to go. That would make me even more crazy with all the people!! So he is coming this morning and we'll walk down the Main Street and have a coffee together. I have colouring in, knitting and just rest. Although one of the nurses said she will walk with whoever is here this afternoon. We walk to a bridge st a creek and one side the water flows fast, the other side the water is slow. I stand there and try so hard to let my problems float away.
I'm thinking I'll be in here for this week. They close the ward for 2 weeks which is ridiculous but there are no psychs to see their patients. If in crisis have to call CAT team or go to public hospital.
I hope I can sleep today I am exhausted. The nurses want my asthma reviewed this week by the doctor.
I am not looking forward to going to work. I'm just too tired. 4 weeks of coughing and feeling crap is really exhausting.
Hope everyone has a nice day today. Chat later. ❤️❤️❤️

Re: While in hospital

Hi @BlueBay. The walk to the creek sounds like a nice outing. Try again today to let your worries float away - down the creek and out of site. The more you practice this, the easier it becomes.
I hope your day is good. Thinking of you.

Re: While in hospital

Hi @utopia
I've been sobbing so much. Talking about Xmas parents sisters I couldn't control my crying.
Ended up sitting chatting to an older lady and she gave me a big hug. She understands my issues as she was abused as a child. We talked and cried for a while. Then a nurse came and gave me an anxiety tab to calm down.
I feel so wrecked. I so hate my mum. Waiting for hubby to come and we'll walk down the street for a coffee.
