Afternoon to you @Zoe7

Re: Far and Away

You've done well @Zoe7 . I had a bit of a giggle though when I started to read the start of your post when you started out by saying "I've hit a wall". I was hoping it wasnt literally the case, and after reading on I found it was a figure of speech. Phew. Anyway it sounds as though you are making some headway, with what is a big job. You must be cooking out there is your garage. Good thing you had other constructive things to do out of the heat. Good to hear thast the old wheel chair has been broken down into manageable bits and will no longer take so much space in the garage. Hope your rest was restorative, that you have cooled down after your earlier efforts, and that you have regained a spark of energy for the rest of the afternoon and into the evening. You are so handy with the tools, how I wish I had some of your skills. I can handle a screwdriver, pliers, fencing tools ... but not a lot else unfortunately. Power tools ... nup ... cant master those at all. I can do enough damage with a simple kitchen utensil, without the added risk and scope for damage of electric tools. How is Toby supervisor handling all the heat and activity? And is there any change to Cat's eating habits?

Sherry 💜

Re: Far and Away

Haha @Former-Member I love that image and no not an actual wall but felt much the same I do love doing things with my hands and have taught myself over the years how to use power tools etc. A lot of it was out of necessity but now I also get enjoyment out of making things ...and it is much cheaper if I can do it myself.

@Faith-and-Hope @MDT @Former-Member I have certainly lost weight this afternoon - it is soooo hot in the garage even with the roller door open. I have managed to move the table and some of the bigger pieces including 6 table tennis table tops (all in good condition and keeping for shelving down the track). I need to unscrew some wheels off some large papier mache snails we made one year and then they can go on the trailer too - no point keeping them as they really are too damaged to restore. I have kept a couple of the smaller ones that are in better condition as well as a couple of minions we made. I will most likely get rid of all them in the future but can't bring myself to do it all at once right now. We put so much work into them so having a couple to keep is a good reminder for me.

Toby has been supervising (and following me everywhere) but also keeping out of the way when I have moved things. He is laying down now - doing what I feel - poor little mite is buggered. I'll head out again and remove the wheels then come in and feed he and Cat. I have to watch Cat eat and if she doesn't eat it all straight away I put her bowl on the bench and give the rest to her later. She still is asking for food but not eating it all straight away - trip to the vet next week

Re: Far and Away

Done in the garage for today @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member @Shaz51 @MDT .

Got some more bigger, broken things on the trailer and moved all the larger sheets of chipboard, plaster and timber. Have moved some things insde to the kitchen to sort and pulled up the tarp I had layed out in the backyard to put everything on.

Toby is still sleeping on the floor - he is so buggered that even jumping onto the couch seems too much for him I will have to walk around him to do the things inside now that I can do. I am really tired myself but if I need to keep occupied tonight. Cat is not eating again and I am super worried about her. I rang the vet and can get her in to see her vet tomorrow morning. She is asking for food but not eating when she gets it - she licks around the edges but then meows again - so she wants to eat but none of the things she would normally have is she eating. It is actually her birthday today but I have been so worried about her I nearly forgot.

@Zoe7
Pets are great. They forgive often. Don't beat yourself up my friend. Good on you for getting that stuff done too 🙂

Re: Far and Away

You've done good today @Zoe7 . 👍 And Toby too .. it cannot be easy doing all that supervisory work all day. Poor fellow.

I'm really glad that you have been able to get Cat in to see the vet sooner than you'd originally thought possible. Fingers crossed she can get checked out and any problems resolved. How old is she as of today? She should be celebrating her special day with lots of favourite food treats, but instead of that she is clearly not herself.

Speaking of birthdays/anniversaries, I was on my Profile page a few days ago and was reminded that it was the 3rd anniversary of me having joined Sane ... all the way back on 29th September 2016. I'm glad I joined ... it was a damned good choice. There are none better than Sane. Thanks @Former-Member @Former-Member .

Re: Far and Away

Cat is 11 @Former-Member So she is no spring chicken but not exceptionally old either. I am so glad I could get her in tomorrow because I really am worried about her and getting in to see her usual vet means I can pay off the bill as well. I still need to take Toby in for his annual checkup too - which I was going to do next week but now I might have to wait a bit longer. I had money put aside for that but now will need to use that for Cat. My Mum and sister have offered before to help me out with vet bills so I probably need to not be so proud and let them help.

Toby is still asleep - he has certainly done some laps of the yard today. He also needs a bath as part of his supervisory role meant he ran through the dirt when I was sweeping it up - I'll leave it a couple of days until I have finished all that as he is bound to do it again lol

It has been nearly 3 years since I joined too Sherry - it doesn't seem that long but I literally slept for over a year of that time Happy anniversary Hon - would not be the same here without you

Re: Far and Away

Holly will be 11yo in December @Zoe7 , so also no spring chicken. Although I think cats generally live longer than dogs? Not sure, but I try not to think about Holly getting older. I was talking on another thread today, that she is getting quite deaf lately. She doesnt even hear our doorbell any more. I really hope that Cat is okay, and that whatever ails her, can be fixed easily. Then hopefully she will still have many more years of joy to share with you and Tobes.

Re: Far and Away

I can't even begin to imagine life without Cat @Former-Member My previous cat was 14 when I lost her - she had been healthy all her life then suddenly she couldn't walk properly. It was no time from there that I lost her - we think she had one stroke followed by another. The vet couldn't actually tell for sure what had happened so that was their best guess. I am at a different vet now - didn't have confidence in that vet at all and this vet is closer to me.

Tobes will be 6 in December and I cannot believe I have had him that long They certainly become our world and give us so much joy - and help us get through those tough times too ...I would definitely not be here without my fur babies
