Re: Far and Away

It seems that you are finding a good balance between socialising and being on your own @Faith-and-Hope There will be times when you are alone and can join in with the group too so you still have that connection with the group. I remember you talking about that lady that seemed quite cold towards you so it is lovely that you got a smile from her today. You may very well be right and she may have felt slightly threatened that the group dynamic might change with another person in the mix - in any case it is great that the other lady embraced D2 - it is those little things that help with the overall experience. So lovely of you to help with the cleaning at church too - huge brownie points for you there

I am still tackling the housework in bits but it is working for me today. Still doing washing but getting other things ticked off as I go. It has been relaxing and not too chaotic trying to get everything done at once. I have finished watching the shows I recorded ealier in the week as well but have the tv on still in the background - nothing on to watch but a little noise is sometimes better than the silence. Generally I prefer no noise but there are also days when I like some in the background. Another load of washing on now and then I'll be back

Re: Far and Away

The cold ladies were the ones from the complex where I live @Zoe7 .... lol I am confusing you now with too many coffee groups 😏.

I have been “the new kid in town” often enough to have worked a few things out, including being cool but polite back to those who are cool but rude ..... then when you do have to interact for some reason, they are the ones squirming, because you are the one standing in higher moral ground .... not that I set out to play strategy games - not much interested in that - it’s just the most comfortable way to exist within the situation without taking on the power games, or feeling a need to hide away from them.

Sometimes it takes a bit of thinking through, which is what I had to do with both groups actually, but this church one most recently.

I met some lovely tourists on my way back home from lunch, and showed them around a bit, because they were headed in the same direction. That was nice .....

Re: Far and Away

Oh okay @Faith-and-Hope - two different groups but as always your approach to some tricky is to be polite - it certainly makes life easier when you know within yourself that you are taking the moral high ground despite what is thrown at you. That is how I felt last year at that previous school - I did exactly what was asked and although I knew it was not right I tried not to let it get to me ...but of course it did I just did not show it at work. Life is so often about getting through those situations that we are uncomfortable in and just as always you do that with grace and pleasantness - there are a lot of people in this world that could take a lead from you Hon

That all shows in you helping some tourists on your way home too - always willing to give and help people out - yet more characteristics of You tat I admire

I am on to my last load of washing and have pottered around doing some of the smaller jobs. I am slowly getting there. If I can clean off my dining room table tonight then I will be very happy with what I have achieved today. I am starting to run out of steam though so after I feed my babies soon I may stop for today. I have some lovely smelling fragrances spreading throughout the house - my favourites ...patchouli and orange with a hint of lavendar - so that is making me feel at peace also. Going to have salad for dinner again (mainly because that is all I have left in the fridge - really need to get to Wednesday and do some shopping).

Haven't yet done the school work I need to do but it won't take too long so will do that after dinner then settle in to watch MAFS again - some mindless tv before heading to bed. Will take my meds early again as it seems to be working for me the next morning even though it means I head to bed early too.

Re: Far and Away

You have a helping nature too @Zoe7 . I can see that, and it is one way that this new job role will be working for you ..... the teachers need the extra support in their classroom, the kids need the extra support for learning, and you are in that place where they all appreciate you ..... so good ..., especially after the experiences last year at a school where the culture has become unappreciative. I am guessing that without you there now, their attention will turn to making life uncomfortable for someone else, maybe even each other ..... the school, or church, or community, or housing complex really is it’s culture ....

Re: Far and Away

I do feel very fortunate to be where I am now and definitely hoping it is extended for the last 2 terms of the year. That is out of my control though so I can only do what I can while I am there and hope for what I would like. I don't think I let on how much last year got to me - there were days when all I wanted to do was quit but I needed the money - that became my driving factor especially when it became obvious to me that I could not continue to work there this year - that part, making that decision, was actually a relief for me. Once I had voiced my desire to go somewhere else this year I did feel a weight off my shoulders. ....and just as you have talked about - there is often a silver lining. You are doing your uni course because you moved east and I have landed at a wonderful school - silver linings for both of us.

Fed fur babies here and put away the washing up so getting it all done by degrees. The vacuuming can wait - the fur babies will just bring in more grass and dirt anyway lol - it is never ending but if I can get on top of most of it on weekends then the weekdays when I am tired will become easier too - especially when we enter winter and the days are shorter.

Moved myself to the supermarket. I have got that far .... trying to put ingredients together for a salad dinner tonight. Not much energy left. This could be interesting .....

Re: Far and Away

Keep it simple @Faith-and-Hope especially if you do not have any energy left. Throw something together and then settle in for a quiet night - that is my plan too. I will have to head to the supermarket tomorrow after work but it will be much the same as tonight - something simple.
