Far and Away

Even though the kids were tired it is nice to hear of them being goofy @Faith-and-Hope - that is a departure from all the seriousness of their conditions, studies and family issues. I hope they all sleep well tonight now.

It must be so hard for you to see Mr. like that Hon. I can only imagine how difficult it is to reconcile this man with the one you once knew. I do so wish it wasn't that way for you or for him. It must also bring home that he is quickly heding into very dangerous ground and that his present lifestyle is not sustainable. He just doesn't understand the line between healthy and unwell with all that he does and the effect that is having on everyone around him

That’s the nature of this illness @Zoe7 . I knew that long back, which has been the heartbreak of not being able to get anyone to listen when he didn’t look like he does now ..... and once it starts to show up like this, I believe it is super hard to turn around .....

I have hope in how bl%dy tenacious he is though, and if someone can get it through his head that he is unwell and he embraces a recovery program, he is just as likely to throw himself into it 100%, but he might need a substantial health scare (perhaps medical test results that shake him up) to get him turned around and headed back in a healthier direction.

That is exactly where I can see this going too Hon - he will 'crash and burn' and my fear is that there will be no way back from that @Faith-and-Hope I do hope that if anything like that does happen that he is able to pull himself back up and through it but from how you are describing his condition that may not be his choice.

It’s so hard knowing how it’s functioning behind the scenes, and not being able to do anything about it, and not being able to tell without professional advice whether that situation is in fact our potential reality, and if so, whether it’s still a fair way off, or too close to contemplate. Holding to hope that there is a safety net here sonewhere.

Holding to that hope for you too Hon It is easy for me to sit back and say that it may actually take a major scare for others to step in try to sort this out for Mr. but no-one wants that either. It is a difficult situation as it will probably take that major scare for anything positive to happen however that may in fact be too late as well. I can see how terribly worrying this would be for you too @Faith-and-Hope

I have to try to push the worry aside as much as I can @Zoe7 , because it can become consuming, and I have tried everything I can think of (safely, according to perceived consequences).

You cannot do anymore than you have done Hon - the rest needs to be up to him and hopefully that isn't as a result of a major health scare. I often think about what impact this all has on you and that is where I come back to the enormous amount of strength you have. It takes a special kind of person to deal with what you do and yet still hold it together for your family - while I do not envy you at all I do so admire you
