Re: Far and Away

Hey @Faith-and-Hope Nightly update for you... and you too @CheerBear...

Had a pretty productive day with getting a few things done. Half of the dining table is now clear but still a fair bit f sorting out of school stuff to go. Tomorrow I will try to make another dent in all that. Sorted and filed quite a bit today and started cutting out my butterflies for the collage - going to take me forever to cut them all out so that little project will definitely be some time off. I did do a little more of the peacock painting tonight but not as much as I wanted to - another thing to get to over the weekend.

Watched the cricket tonight - the Hurricanes won again - that is 5 wins from 5 matches so they are doing really well. I didn't want to go to the match tonight - knew I had things I wanted to get done at home and it was televised so I could do both at the same time.

I have had a couple of messages from my FB friend today and will probably get another one before I head to bed - it is still nice to have that contact with no pressure for anything else. It has been nearly 4 weeks and I am still enjoying our conversations. Don't know where this will go but just the fact that I am even slightly open to whatever this is for now is pretty massive - I even find myself thinking of our conversations during the times that we are not chatting - it is both nice and scary at the same time. Not really sure where I sit with all this to be honest but going with the flow for now.

Going to head off forum soon and try to get some sleep - goodnight/goodmorning to you both

Re: Far and Away

😊 at this post @Zoe7. I watched the Hurricanes game with my friend who brought his sister's littler person over to hang out with mine. Thought of you throughout most of the game, knowing you would be watching. Another exciting one to see and one I'd be loving if I was a hurricanes supporter!

So much quiet yay for you and your developing friendship 😊🙂. I can sense the hope and nice feelings through your posts, understanding the scary, strange ones that might be happening too. Great sign to be still enjoying the chat after 4 weeks and to be thinking of him between chats. Wondering what kinds of things you chat about (again if you want to and can share)? Do you find yourself having to find things to chat about, or does it happen pretty effortlessly?

Hope you sleep well tonight and will 'see' you tomorrow ❤

@Faith-and-Hope oodles of these ❤ for you. You are very missed.

Re: Far and Away

@CheerBear We really just chat about normal day to day stuff - what we have been up to and how things are going. He is currently painting his house and still writing sonds at the same time so is pretty flat out during the day. He uses nights to prep for painting during the day so whilst we chat a bit it is not continuous every night. He is also into his art so we talk about that a little too.

The chats happen pretty effortlessly and he seems appreciative of the fact I ask how he is and what he has been up to during the day.

I do think there is some hope and definitely some nice feelings coming from all this. It has been so long since I have had those nice feelings CB and whilst I am enjoying them there are still so many doubts in the back of my mind - most of them purely self-esteem issues. I am also finding myself hope that it becomes something more and the last time anything like that happened it didn't end well - so there are so many things going through my mind. One of those is trying to talk myself into persuing whatever this is but with so many fears coming up from past history and the biggest one is the fear of rejection - that I am not good enough to have that type of happiness ...I could go on but I really am trying to put the negative thoughts on the backburner and think of the positives. SO much in my head regarding all this - as you can see my mind is telling me one thing and my heart is telling me another - maybe this is a case of following my heart for a change!

Re: Far and Away

Great to hear chat is pretty effortless @Zoe7.

The brain vs heart battle is a real pain sometimes. What does your gut say? Tuning into gut feelings when brain and heart are being annoyingly uncooperative, is something I've been working on trying for a little while.

When my 'thing' with friend started I didn't have a fear of rejection to work through like it sounds you do (not because I'm super confident but more because I didn't exactly care what happened with it). I can imagine how it could be a really scary and hard one to try and overcome though. Are you able to talk with him about these kinds of things, or do you think you would be able to eventually?

I had, and still have, a big fear of vulnerability in this kind of relationship (I'm thinking why that is probably isn't rocket science) and also of what I would be like without my big, tough walls (which are under threat with him around). Not sure if you have similar fears there too, though I'm guessing with similar kinds of experiences as each other, you may also. One thing friend and I do pretty well is open, honest talk about all of this stuff. When I think about why this 'thing' has maybe kept going and could possibly keep going, I think these kinds of conversations have probably been a big part of that. Right from the start I needed him to understand and respect why I can be the way I can be. I also wanted to understand what can happen for and with him and how he worked too. Both of those things were made easier because of where we met which gave us time and space to be very real and open. (Though I'd not exactly recommend finding this kind of friend in the situation that we found each other!).

It can be so tricky to enjoy the present moments without getting too caught up in what might happen, or stuck in what has happened before. It's an almost constant battle for me. What's happening for you right now sounds really positive, safe, gentle, respectful, exciting and nice. And you sound like you're doing an amazing job at working your way through it, thinking about it but also going with the flow. Totally on team go you Zoe, with whatever happens here ❤

(Also - I'm so tired and shouldn't be participating in these kinds of serious chats while I'm like this as I have no idea whether any of it makes sense 😆)

And with that novel, thinking you might be close to asleep like I am/should be, I'll kick myself off the forum for the night and head to bed 👋❤

Re: Far and Away

You are making complete sense @CheerBear There is so much in your post that I can either relat to or have thought about myself. It is a strange feeling and very unexpected that this has all happened but I never even imagined I would be open to this kind of thing again so whilst it may not go anywhere it has opened my eyes again to the possibilities.

Re: Far and Away

Hi @Faith-and-Hope I didn't get to sleep until late last night as I didn't have my meds until after the cricket finsihed. Super tired still this morning but that is probably because the meds are still in my system. Hoping that as the day moves forward that I will get the energy and motivatio to do some of the things I had planned.

Toby and I are currently snuggled on the couch together - me under the doona and him on top of it - so different to the weather yesterday where it was incredibkky hot in the morning and then cooled off a bit more in the afternoon. The smoke from the fire burning to the west has significantly cleared today so I am hopin that that means it is under control now. It certainly made for a spectacular back drop to the city yesterdy.

Not a lot to report today that I didn't already mention to you and @CheerBear last night so will leave you with knowing I am thinking of you and miss you heaps. Hope you day has been a good one and tomrrow is even better. 😍🌹💕
