A challenge I would think 😕 Hope this is a time yo rekindle some first love maybe.
Any good churches to visit there? Did you go this morning? Love ancient architecture and history. Churches are great for it. Hugz xox

Re: Far and Away

Thanks @Former-Member

It might not have been the best anniversary, but it was a lovely day nonetheless.

All our recent anniversaries have been like this cos the e.d. has come between us, and that leaves room for other things that ought not to be in the order they are ... such as MIL's new / old influence ....

It's not right, but it's part of the funky glue that is helping to keep this thing stuck together for now. When the e.d. finally gets dealt with, everything else will need to be re-ordered too ....

I was grieving the loss of this relationship last year, and still to some extent this year ... that's where EDV put me onto these forums. There is another one for recovery from e.d. .... but we're not on that page yet. Still walkin' through no-mans-land.

Looking back I can see it's been happening in cycles .... but as far as I can work out its still all part of the first and hardest and longest stage - denial of the problem. A least this cycle of having "buried the evidence", as he thinks he has done, is much steadier and easier to live with.

Anniversaries are sort of parked for now. Celebrate later when we've got him back.

Getting late here ... better get on with this packing .... catch y'all tomorrow.

💜🌷

Gosh @Faith-and-Hope, WH & MIL "went off on their own" on your anniversary? Ignorance or deliberate, still awful for you. And be told to sort out evening meal with the kids. Shame MIL hasn't got the nouse to be elsewhere and give you the day. And the anniversary gift wt# Anyway, you've turned your focus on the good parts in the day. Gentle hugs for your heart from a loving heavenly Father, who sees all things and loves you more than any human. Big hug from me xoxoxoxoxo

The sight seeing sounds amazing!! Hope baby dragans like it too? The restored castles (a vision for your marriage perhaps)

I'd love to be with you to see all that. I've watched documentaries, epecially of British castles, but the atmisphere of being there is person, did you sense anything? Yep, just love it the history of it all, our forefathers, it's just great.

What did you end up having for dinner I hope your next destination goes well. Safe travels and do keep posting - you giving me something to think about a part of myself, and i care, thank you, xox

Re: Far and Away

Hi @Shaz51

I got the email of your post, but I can't find it in the thread anywhere ....

My MIL supports my hubby's eating disorder, including the c / s .... I don't .... I use passive resistance with it all, so he is angry with me, disappointed that I won't support what he sees as his greatest success in life .... but he is ill and it is dangerous, and while Intollerate it to "walk him home", there is no way I will actively support it ....

So, his attention and care has turned back to his mother .... think it's to do with mortality too ... and seeing her age ... and fear of losing her ... but eating disorders affect brain chemistry and I understand that everything is warped in his thinking while he is so ill ....

I am just grateful at the moment that it's not worse ..... and I won't get proper anniversaries back until he is treated. He bought me a another gift at the airport .... a jewellery souvenir .... but he bought for the kids and his mum too .... I can just accept it now without feeling hurt, cos he's just not himself and doing things with an unwell outlook. I know you understand about that, and go along with your hubby's fits and starts too .... part of being a carer, isn't it ?

💗💕

Hi @Former-Member ... 🤗💜💕

Think I answered some of your last post when I answered @Shaz51 .... WH almost can't be held responsible for his thoughts and actions till he's treated cos his ideas and reactions are so controlled by the eating disorder. I say almost because I really don't know the start and finish of it, but he does honour me at times, and act with high integrity at other times. If I let my emotions ride up and down according to when he's with it and when he's not, I will be a complete mess .... had to learn to disengage and stand back from him ....deal with him at arms length which includes anniversaries, birthdays, Christmas etc ...

Got another souvenir scarf gift from him today ... so even though he's trucking around gift shops with his mum, I'm still on his radar there somewhere ....

The sight-seeing is amazing .... having to pinch myself over it ... this current town is an artist's dream ... could spend the rest of the holiday here painting ... lol .... S2 and D3 out drawing at the moment ... yay !! My little arty-bratty-dynamic baby dragons ...

Had a fish pie for dinner that night .... collecting recipe ideas as I go here ....

Love that I can bring y'all along with me to some extent .... ❣

Hi @Faith-and-Hope

I have read about your anniversary and the continuing gifts of souvenirs - I guess you could buy your own but gee - I would be - ahhhhhhhhh- stuck for words again - but yes - ahhhhhhhhhhh

I know that his ED is eating his brain chemistry - and you seem to handle it well but this cannot be easy -

So I guess MIL will not follow you to your next port of call - how long have you been gone now - a couple of weeks give or take? - I love your photos -

I am glad you have your own thread here about your trip - I hope WH settles a bit after he has seen his mother - amazing that she supports his ED - but I guess she doesn't know

How is his vision btw
