Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

@TAB well done - that seems to have been a really good choice to make

Do you feel better having done that?

Re: Just checking in.

yes we did @Former-Member

@TAB

I can see why your rolling stone .. happy go lucky .. is an adaption to your cotrolling dominating father .. pity the sister enables him so much .. if she toned that a bit back he might not play cranky king of his castle .. quite so much .. but corse I dunno .. just babbling .. can understand the anger build up .. and it will be so ingrained now for all the other family memebers .. if you did stand up to him .. it mught be b-anging head against brick wall .. that what it was like with my mother .. stubborn as .. I learned to "save my breath".

@Zoe7 Glad you felt able to exercise some diplomacy & leadership .. on your own turf .. you go girl!

..exactly ..nothing remotely humble in the atmos there lol .. @Appleblossom not saying I really am, and yes, acting like that may have become how they are dealing with each other, but it was full on, if there was a benefit to them for acting like that(presumably) there was the opposite for me .. could read the script in advance almost after 24hrs in the middle of it, they'll say this, then do that, all the time me trying to remove self further and further without reacting ..anyhoo ..works for them ..else why do it lol

Re: Just checking in.

Well done y'all ..... ❣

Was like that with WH family while my kids were growing up .... applied strategies like y'all just did to get thru .... WH always at work, was operating like single mum .... now with the e.d. WH has become like them when he wasn't before .... :face_with_rolling_eyes: .... so living with it under my own roof at times ..... he's not doing too badly at the moment, and his jogging / gym takes him out of the house a lot .... also have sibs of MIL around us here which keeps it all out of my court .... lol .... and my kids can read it like @TAB just said .... learn how to side-step .... move out of the room .... chat on forum .... lol .... !!

Re: Just checking in.

..my take on reflection is that its a perfect storm of co dependence re father and sister atm re he cant look after self that much ontop of becoming grandiose and been saving up putdowns for me for ever seems lol .. He actually blamed me for a plastic food warming plate cover for use in a microwave going missing since my last visit 12 mths ago .. yes,its mental illness territory .. me having bought tomatos offended him 3 plus times, a lettuce at least twice, 2 lemons on cupboard also offended him, with him. The answer in each case was to demand to know who was the cause of this happening ..plus was a reason I could not leave when chose to etc etc ..blah blah @Faith-and-Hope plus mentioned to brother in law who's take on it is my father is 92, 'he can do what he wants' ..hmm ..yeah ..hows that working .. mum was always the butt of everything in fathers world, think I walked into victim of theirs slot ...nah.. pass ... @Faith-and-Hope ..its a pretty good case for suspecting he's getting prescribed medical amphetamines of some description, well has multiple heart conditions, plus joints gone so def on opiates, but theres something driving the new 'grandiose' stuff well he is dying, but why be an AH while you are doing it lol

Re: Just checking in.

@TAB. Sounds like you are handling your family dynamics in the best way possible. I'm glad you have gone to a motel. You and your health come first.
Try and focus on those good moments and when it gets too hard - retreat back to the motel and talk to us here.
I'm impressed with how far you have come over the past few months. You deserve a pat on the back.

Re: Just checking in.

Has anyone heard from @pip? I used to talk to her almost daily. But then when I went off line for 3 weeks following my 'other mum's' hospital trip and death - I haven't heard from her.
Is anyone else in touch with her? Just want to know she is okay.
