Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Re: Just checking in.

Thanks @CheerBear . I think that news needs to stay buried deep for a bit longer, even from my psych 😮🤫. My reasons are sound I think, while it’s buried I can try to get on with other things. I think I may even be beginning to develop a mental filing system. Woohoo! That one's time will come and it will be big but maybe by then other things will have changed and so it may not be as big. I can only hope.

Just checking in @CheerBear . How is your day shaping up? How did yesterday go?

Re: Just checking in.

Yesterday was great thanks @Teej. I absolutely love going in to my gig thing. I feel so grown up (lol 😉). It really does feel so good to be on the other side and so much like there's part of my old me (just a tougher more tired one haha) in there still. The environment is incredibly supportive which is the only way I could do this and I have been having some good giggles with the supervisor which makes it fun too.

Then the crash back to reality and right into the thick of my parent's stuff happened 😏 The tension is suffocating me and I feel so torn that I want to put my hands over my ears with a "la la la not listening" thing happening sometimes.

Today I'm avoiding people and c-link (big panic shudder at the thought) and am planning on doing something I couldn't imagine myself doing before now - polishing the exterior trims of our car. I'm going for a long drive to pick up what I need and will then spend as much time as possible just me and the car 😁 So it looks like a good day ahead.

I'm going to run now. Someone just burst the "Easter Bunny isn't real" bubble for one of mine and I'm going to try and fix that.

Good luck today. Will be thinking of you 😘

💜💜💜 the first paragraph @CheerBear .

😬😏 for the second one.

👍🏻👍🏻😃 for the third

😮😱 for the last. I hope you were able to talk your way through that one ok.

I hope the day was good. Psych helped heaps in the strangest of ways. My mood is much better. I think the release of emotion and pent up tears helped. (I got a bit silly at the end I think with that emotional release for a bit, firing off a few too many jokes 😳). It was a really heavy session,so so glad I had my notes. The hard part is hearing her ohs and ahs and being too scared to ask what she was reacting to. There was two solid pages of notes :face_with_rolling_eyes:

i have come away with a change in prescription which now includes an adhd med and a book to read. I am feeling a little weird about it. I really wouldn’t have thought that Id ever get to the point of being diagnosed (let alone taking meds for it) but she’s pretty convinced of it and that it explains so much about me.

Right now I have that strange feeling of excitement and dread. If she is right I guess it helps to understand me better. The feeling like a different person everyday thing is part of ADD for many women apparently. There are many things she’s identified that are ADD things. Some of these things have been counted as personality disorder traits rather than looking at the cause for them. The dread is that it might be huge to overcome. I’m scared that I can’t change enough to find that life worth living.

:face_with_rolling_eyes:not sure how to end this post. Feeling a bit all over the place still. 😳😳😳

Haha I love your emoji paragraph breakdown responses @Teej 😆❤🙂

I'm so happy to hear your mood is better now. Sounds like it was a hard one last night so improvement in that is great.

Totally get how the medication/diagnosis thing might be scary and exciting and lots in between. Does it feel the same as other times you've been given diagnoses and suggested treatment options? It's often been a jumbly time for me when something like that has changed or shifted.

Hugs ❤

Re: Just checking in.

It does feel a little different @CheerBear . For one, getting this diagnosis from a psychiatrist that actually knows me feels better. Secondly getting the diagnosis when I didn’t drive the agenda of it feels more real. Thirdly she’s been hinting and trying to get me to try meds for 6 months. This diagnosis has been made over time. For the past few sessions she has talked about it or given me assessments that she made me do there :face_with_rolling_eyes: (because she knew I’d forget them or get sidetracked).

I guess I’ve been thinking about my past lots lately which has been on overdrive since I got back from the appointment. It explains lots and also explains lots of the self loathing and self hatred over the years. I’m a contradiction in so many ways. I’ve struggled with that for so long. I think I’ve got to the point that I want to try the meds now. Only time will tell.

Sounds like all those different things are really quite positive heading in to this @Teej. It will be interesting to see how you go with it 🤞

Re: Just checking in.

Want to know something interesting @CheerBear . The book she gave me to read (a kindle one only costing $7), I went to download it and it said I had already bought it in 2013 about 4 weeks before my first attempted suicide. I never got to read it.
