Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Re: Just checking in.

👋 all. I've been away for a couple of days (which felt like weeks in forum time when I just logged on 😉). We've had a great long weekend with lots of family time which felt so heart good ❤ In between the family stuff I've been working on understanding the school thing I'm now doing (lots involved and so much to learn!) and starting to think about/prepare for an interview for the volunteering gig. I'm nervous as it has been a long time since I've been to an interview (or really done any kind of worky stuff). Excited though 🙂

@Teejhow are you going? I was outside with one of mine having a giggle yesterday afternoon. They've gone ball mad and are all about kicking, bouncing, throwing, hitting with bats of all kinds, goals, points... so different to the others! We set up a new sports area where the other big backyard thing used to be and they were out in the rain and cold, drenched, covered in mud, bangs on their shins from playing around, scruffy hair etc. It made me think of you and how much of that you would have had with yours growing up 😊

Looking forward to a proper wander around the forum and a catch up with anyone around.

Re: Just checking in.

So lovely to read you have had a good long weekend @CheerBear

I had a giggle at you description of your LF becoming ball obsessed - that was pretty much me growing up as a child - if it could bounce, be kicked, hit or thrown I was right there behind it no matter the weather outside lol I really never grew out of that still playing sport into my 20s until I injured my neck ...would probably still be doing it all now if I could.

I think this new school gig will be a breeze for you - and I know you will be very well prepared for it. You are also going into with the knowledge that other people wanted you in this position and that is an extra boost to the confidence.

Hi also to @Teej

Re: Just checking in.

Right on cue I had a "just watch the windows while you're throwing that ball" and "not your brand new jumper in the dirt" moment @Zoe7 😆 I've also been discussing/arguing about appropriate footwear for camp with a princessy one (as in not sparkly, shiny, white glittery shoes with heels :face_with_rolling_eyes:) and trying to cut down the excessive amount of luggage they want to pack. The love/hate duo are such different little creatures!

I can see you being a sporty kind of little person 😊 I spent most of my outside kid time less with balls and more on bikes or rollerblades.

Thanks re the school gig. I'll be right once I get my head around it I think 🙂

I hope you've also had a good long weekend. I caught a couple of your posts and it sounds like it has been OK for you?

Re: Just checking in.

I certainly have got a lot achieved so far this long weekend - just hope I haven't overdone it - will see tomorrow I guess!

Yet another giggle at your description of princessy one and her shoe dilemma lol You certainly have a way with words I can imagine your LF trying to pack the most sparkly clothes whilst needing more appropriate attire for camp - oh LF are funny

Heading for a very early night here tonight @CheerBear - definitely worn myself out today. I have already organised my stuff for tomorrow and packed my bag for work so that is something I don't have to do in the morning - just got one more load of washing to do - all the rest of Toby's baby doonas ...spilt a drink when my sister was here all over them so have to wash them all

How is the rest of your week looking?

Re: Just checking in.

Good job on achieving a lot this weekend @Zoe7 🙂 That worn out doesn't sound great though. Grrr with the drink and the washing!

My week is looking busy-ish (for me at least). I have one off school tomorrow so we're taking a day out together which they're looking forward to as am I. A couple of appointments and the interview for the volunteering gig for me also this week. I am one kid down for a couple of nights (if we can eventually negotiate the luggage situation 😆) so that will make things quieter (and easier!). I think it will be a week with a bit of good 🤞

How about yourself? Three days work and DBT Wednesday? Any word re friend (if I'm pestering you with that please say!)?

In response to: Re: Just checking in.

Re: Just checking in.

lol no not pestering at all. No contact with friend for over a week and I am not going to contact him. He was the one that couldn't make a couple of visits to me in a row (not that I really cared at the time) but haven't had any contact since either. I figure if he wants further contact then I will hear from him - not going to instigate that myself. I know his house sale will be going through pretty soon and he is likely to take off travelling soon afterwards so think things have pretty much cooled off between us. From my point of view I am okay with that - there is still the tricky that he disclosed to me that I don't think I could ever really get around @CheerBear ...and even though we settled on 'just being friends' I know he is looking for more than that - not necessarily with me but in a longer term commitment/partner - and that is definitely not what I am looking for - that is the last thing on my mind.

Re: Just checking in.

@CheerBear ...and yes 3 days of work but tomorrow is a longer day - we don't finish until 4.30 I know it is progress report writing for teachers so not sure what I will do in that time - probably catch up on emails and maybe look at one of our reading programs a bit more. It is going to be pretty boring for me though

DBT Wednesday still and GP - no pdoc as I only see her fortnightly now. Will probably do my shopping for the week in between DBT and GP as I have a couple of hours in between. I need to get Toby into the vet as well to check his ear - pretty sure he has an ear infection - he won't let me look at it too closely so that is a pretty clear indication that something is wrong there.

Re: Just checking in.

Just poking my nose in to let people know I’m still plodding along. Despite recent circumstances I’m still on track to finish my course, then it’s onwards to uni.

Re: Just checking in.

Luggage situation successfully sorted 👍😁

Hugs for the friend situation @Zoe7, even though it sounds you're fairly OK with it. It seemed you enjoyed the chats and company you were having when it was happening.

Poor Toby 🙁 Hope he isn't in much pain and that it is a quick and easy fix for him. Thinking you might not be far off bed if you havent made it there already. Hope tomorrow is another good one at school ❤

Hey @Queenie and go you with your course! Thats great to hear. How long do you have left? So exciting about uni too 🙂👍

Re: Just checking in.

Hey @CheerBear my graduation is in June, so not long left really. This course means a lot to me.
