Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Not many words but lots of listening and love @Teej ❤

Re: Just checking in.

@CheerBear How are you going? Do you want to talk about friend further or just need to dump the worry room post and run.

Feeling a little human and not quite so much drama queen just now (although I know that can change on a dime lately). I’ve been wanting to talk about lots of stuff for months but every time I do it comes out hysterically 😳🤦‍♀️. One day I’ll work it out :face_with_rolling_eyes:.

Re: Just checking in.

Hey @Teej 🙂 It's good to hear you're feeling a little human again. That talking thing can be so tricky sometimes.

Thanks for checking in. I think I needed to get it out and walk away this morning. I was stressing about too much on in too few hours this morning (which I've successfully managed my way through now 👍) but friend worries were bubbling under the surface and going round and round. I spent quite a bit of time with my support worker working it out this morning and have sent another clear message with options for support that don't include me, to friend. What he does with that and where he goes from here is not my responsibility which I knew but needed to feel (if that makes sense). I feel so good about having been able to work this boundary stuff with him through without getting myself into a huge mess over it. I also have a plan if it escalates further and, while I hope it won't be needed, I feel confident with that plan.

Also, I was given the big gig at the little school today. I'm a bit excited 🙂 There's training and I think I'll be able to learn lots of new things and practice lots of things (like that letter writing and public speaking) that I used to do better at. It went to a vote and was an awesome confidence boost. I think my kids will be happy to have their mum involved like that too.

It's been a good day today and we have a special night with people tonight to look forward to now 🙂

How's the weekend looking for you (if youd like to share)?

@CheerBear

I was hoping that you’d have someone to talk things through with and have a plan. That is really good. I’ve had some experiences with things similar which ends up looking very much like emotional blackmail even if the other one can’t see it. I also watch one relationship close to me go through this stuff and it sucks and it is so hard.

Congrats on the school thing. I was on one for about 7 years but def not in letter writing/speaking capacity. Well done you, it’s an awesome confidence boost and a great stepping stone.

Im so overwhelmed by lots at the moment and have my head firmly planted in the sand just now. This weekend I will face lots of challenges I think.

It sounds good that you have tonight to look forward to as well. Enjoy the moments of today and tonight with a renewed sense of pride and achievement. 💜🤗

Re: Just checking in.

Thanks @Teej. I think it's hard when we care about people but can't let ourselves become really entangled in their stuff for our own wellbeing. Maybe also particularly hard when we have had experiences of struggling so much, feeling so alone and needing supportive people to be with us through it. I care about him, I really do, but it was hurting me.

Also thanks re the gig. I've done about four years on them at different times but really only as a nodding head, second-er person for things. I love this school, the principal and staff are awesome and I genuinely believe in the community. The school has done so much for our family, as they do for so many families who struggle, and this might be a good giving back to them thing. If I can get past my own insecurities and doubts, I think I'll do well with it (plus as much as I like to think I'm antisocial, I'm really not and I spend a lot of time around there getting to know different people which helps 🙂).

You do have lots of things that might be overwhelming at the moment and I can understand the buried in the sand stuff. I'm thinking that at least some of it isn't maybe so forum shareable and maybe it's tricky to talk about the bits that are. Listening if ever you'd like to vent or get it out.

❤

Huge congrats on the school gig @CheerBear That really is a confidence booster for you and I am super proud that you decided to run for it

@Teej Knowing you feel a little more human today is a good thing but we do know that can change quickly for you too - very much thinking about you (as always) and sending you some hugs if needed
