Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Re: Just checking in.

It is so much cooler here today @CheerBear Reached 40 yesterday but only mid 20s so far today - expected to rise a little more by the afternoon but not much. I may even be able to mow the grass later if it stays as it is now.

I love the idea of salad in a jar - such a great idea for kids lunches.

I will most likely be having salad tonight as well - that is pretty much all I have left in the fridge - really need to do a shop myself but will make do for tonight and try to get to the supermarket tomorrow after work.

I have started the washing here - still need to get ready for the week which will include a little ironing and putting away clothes that currently 'hide' in the spare room lol - everything hides in the spare room!

I love hearing Rocket stories - they are so cute when they are little - so playful and full of spirit 😺 I used to say Cat was more like a dog when she was little as she used to follow me everywhere and want constant snuggles - she grew out of that a bit as she grew up and now is happy sitting outside or in her room - but having Toby around has stopped most of the snuggles - she does still want some cuddle time and pats though and mostly Toby lets that happen but he is such a jealous little fella and wants all the attention most of the time. Love them both so much though

Great that you have some cooler weather @Zoe7. I'd probably melt if I tried to mow today. I think it has been a few too many hot days here 😏

It's a bit of effort to put them together but the salads are a huge hit and really make life easier in the mornings throughout the week. They've been great for my tricky eating one as we chop everything up and I give suggestions as to how to layer them, but what actually goes in them and how much is totally up to them and they do that part themselves. They've tried heaps of different foods through doing it, it's all in their control, they look super appealing (and are often rainbow kind of coloured) and it's fresh and healthy. It's been a big deal with the eating issues 🙂

I love that you have Cat and Toby. Hearing how much love you all share makes my heart feel warm and fuzzy ❤ I wish I could meet them in person!

I'm crashed out on the beanbag for now with the crew all crashed out a bit too. I could so easily have a nap 😴 Hope your afternoon is going OK.

Re: Just checking in.

I wish you could meet my fur babies too @CheerBear You would love Toby especially as he really is a smoocher. Cat just does her own thing but definitely rules the house - how many other cats do you know that have their own room lol She is super happy in there with no Toby allowed. She mostlt sleeps on her big bed which lives on top of the filing cabinets but I have seen her this week in a couple of other areas where there are also beds. She can choose from about six different spots to sleep plu her usual sunning herself on the window sill. She is very spoilt!

Toby also has beds all around the house - it is worse than having kids - the whole house is 'pet friendly' but they definitely know they are loved - it is a lovely relationship we all have

I am still doing bits and pieces of housework inbetween taking rests and watching a lttle tv - there is not much on I am interested in but it is good to have on in the background. I am definitely not going to get to the mowing - we have had a few sprinkles of rain so will leave it to later in the week. Hopefully it will be clear on Wednesday and I can do it after I come home from seeing my pdoc.

I am getting through the washing - another couple of loads still to go but plenty of time left this afternoon to do that. Also need to change my bed - that will be my next job today. Toby usually tries to help me which makes it a not so quick task

Crashed out in the beanbag actually sounds like my kind of afternoon but I do need to get things done whilst I have the energy - knowing that I am usually pretty tired throughout the week and not much gets done. If I get home early enough I can get little things done and then get dinner organised but that is about it. The days certainly do wear me out and that is another reason I am so grateful that I have support at work - makes the days not seem so long when the people you are working with are good company also.

Re: Just checking in.

Haha I remember hearing about cat and her own room and Toby and his toys when we first 'met' @Zoe7, and thinking that was so cool.

Dogs are seriously growing on me over the last year. I think I mentioned my people have a puppy now. From memory the name I gave her for here was Pudding (tricky to remember all of my babiies forum names 😆). Last night I got to spend lots of time with little Pudding. We snuggled up while she crashed out on the floor, I got (and then allowed lol) lots of puppy licking love, and we splashed around in some water. I can not imagine adding more to the bananas we have here though. As fun as our circus is at times, it is also a lot to deal with and a puppy/dog might be too much of a stretch for me. I've been thinking about it more and more though.

I can imagine how tired you'd be through the week. It's so great that you have support at work and that you seem to be dealing with it all really well. It would help to have some things organised before the week starts.

I've done some dinner foods and have them in the fridge, some of the dishes (there is a never ending flow of them) and the groceries but that's about it so far. Next up is doing some uniform washing and trying to get a load that's out on the line in before it rains (not much on the radar but enough to wet what's on the line), but not while it is still so hot. I don't have much on Monday and Tuesday so I can probably catch up on the rest of the housework then. Minimum tonight for me maybe.

Re: Just checking in.

I love that you have the same amount of cats as kids now @CheerBear - one for each of them lol A dog is a very big commitment - they are not like cats that just do their own thing most of the time - they are like little babies that need constant attention. I worry about Toby every day being home alone for so long but I think that is natural after how much time I have spent at home over the last couple of years with him by my side. He seems to be coping with it well though and I get greeted by a jumpy, happy, licky little fluffball when I get home and that always makes me smile.

Pudding sounds super cute but in the right place for you to get attached without all the responsibilities. Maybe when the LF are older you could consider getting a dog when you have more time to devote just to him/her. They are certainly wonderful company - and I was just like you - a cat person until the day I met this little white fluffball and fell instantly in love with him ...it was meant to be

I am actually getting more done today than I thought I would - I was still so tired this morning and honestly thought I would spend most of the day asleep again but I have a little more energy this afternoon. Tomorrow is one of my favourite days at work as I am with the 4/5 class for most of the day which helps me get to know them a little better. The classroom teacher often works with a small group while I work with the rest of the clasas so it is a bit more like having my own class again too - that is something I do miss with this role I have but I also think it is great that I am not under so much pressure with planning and reporting and all the extra 'paperwork' involved in a classroom teacher role. This is exactly as it should have been last year - me helping out in classes rather than taking them with constant supervision. That was really messed up and despite me getting through it it certainly did not help with how I felt about myself.

Another load of washing on here already - only one to go today and then I will do the bed linen later *have to change the bed first ). That is a job I can do tonight and then be able to get into a lovely fresh bed

Re: Just checking in.

Go you with all you're getting done @Zoe7! I am up again and about to head to the line. I'll get some kids in the tub after that while I do the last of dinner.

Love hearing about your school and how much you're enjoying it and feeling comfortable there. I imagine would help to know that the yucky stuff that was going on was a reflection of where you were and not you personally. 4/5 sounds hard but teaching in general sounds hard to me! Great that you're looking forward to it 😊

Re: Just checking in.

It certainly makes it easier to go to work when I am looking forwad to the day @CheerBear I think I am beginning to get my nightime routine sorted as well and that is helping with being able to get up and out on time in the morning. Some days I am still very tired - Tuesday seems to be my worst day for that but that is also my longest day with meetings after school.

I have just put my second last load of washing on the line - last load washing now so that is one big job I will have finished today. I will be home early enough to get it off the line tomorrow (weather permitting). Running out of energy now though but got more done than I expected to today.

All that yucky stuff last year just showed me how incapable the principal was of understanding MI and that it was not a good environment or me. It really hurt that a supposed friend was so open in sharing my personal stuff - could not continue to work with her without there being animosity towards her either so very glad to be where I am and with people that seem to care without even knowing anything. Some know I have been out of the work envionment for some time and haven't asked any questions yet still manage to give me support - that is a place anyone would love to work in.

Re: Just checking in.

Just checking in cos I said I would post here today but haven’t. I have had a very slow day and have slept lots. Not sure if it’s a physical or mental tiredness but I’m just very tired and sleepy lots. I have a GP appointment tomorrow which I’ll talk through some stuff. It’s also another birthday in my birthday season so I may be AWOL.

Re: Just checking in.

Was heading over here to check in too. It was good to see your post @Teej. I wonder how much the tiredness may be that post big thing crash and the other big stress stuff.

Hope the GP appointment is helpful for you ❤
