Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Re: Just checking in.

This is all going to come from my own experiences and personality and situation etc so please take this as what it is @Teej. I am hovering over the reply button crossing my fingers that the following isn't unhelpful.

It doesn't seem as if your psych is being very open with you with this at times and it seems as if you are being left with surprises that are difficult for you to manage. It also seems a bit like things are pretty out of your control. Having some sense that I'm in control is hugely important to me (but I acknowledge that I probably take that to an extreme degree). Collaboration in a working/therapeutic relationship is also pretty important to me and I'm getting a sense that maybe that isn't something you're feeling much of with psych. I know I really needed to trust my psych and my GP had my back and that we were/are working together. It would have been very hard if I didn't trust that.

Again though, these are things I feel are important to me and you're not me and I'm not the one going through this at the moment so maybe they're not really thingy kinds of things for you.

* I also have a danger alarm going off thinking that questioning your relationship with your psych isn't the most helpful thing to be doing right now :face_with_rolling_eyes:

As far as part two - Far out with your brother and the house situation too. That is a massive stress. This is probably the point I'd be wanting to curl up in a ball under a blanket.

Honestly, I think you're doing really well getting through this time. It has overwhelming and messy written all over it.

Re: Just checking in.

What you wrote was fine and totally appropriate @CheerBear. My therapist and I discussed those exact things today. Her concern was that again I have lost power and control through this process and once again I am being dictated to by community mental health. The other thing my therapist said that I’m guessing you’ll agree with is that I should never have been given that report without talking through it with her. She added a diagnosis that I felt so cheated by thinking we were not in that territory anymore. It’s still two personality disorders but she flipped them. It left me feeling gutted. I guess my therapist knows me so much better. You know I’m powerless regardless though. She is by far the best one I’ve had through cmh and she was helping when we were just working on me things before all this came about. I am lucky to have her and I know the other options would be way worse....although I guess dead is about as worse as you can get 😩. She also doesn’t know about my brother and upcoming things. I think my therapist is letting her know tomorrow. Thank you for being brave and writing your opinion when I asked. It’s helped to know and I guess supports my therapists view on all this.

Re: Just checking in.

I'm so glad you have your therapist @Teej. I hate that non clinical helping people opinions and reports have such little weight especially compared to clinical people. In my experience clinicians often know us less than other helping professionals and often from their lens of wrongness 'with' people.

I was wondering whether a personality disorder thingy may have been a surprise on there. They sting badly. I completely agree that the report isn't something you should have been given like that. It isn't rocket science that stuff like this can push anyone and that someone in a vulnerable position really doesn't need pushing 😔

I'm sorry that this is the best you can get. My very limited experience with CMH (which is area mental health here) tells me that taking the best is a good thing to do as you said, as there really can be some not best at all out there. Again this seems like a system wrongness and not a Teej wrongness. I fully believe that.

Re: Just checking in.

Thanks for the conversation and sharing the vulnerable stuff tonight @CheerBear

I know it’s past your bedtime so I’ll let you go. I hope you sleep well tonight. Catch ya tomorrow probably. 💜🤗

Re: Just checking in.

I have a date with online shows I doubt many psychs would consider healthy late night viewing @Teej (and I wonder why I have nightmares 😆😉). I also have an incredibly demanding kitten who has decided toes are the best play/chase toy even when they're still and who is currently doing zoomies around my head on the lounge. Tiny cat needs to calm their farm so I'll take them to bed to try and do that now.

Thank you for being you. Hope you sleep/rest well tonight 💗

Hey @Teej. Wondering whether psych and therapist had a chat today and how it went (and how you are)?

Re: Just checking in.

How was your day @CheerBear ?

I want to thank you for the conversation last night too. I read it back and I was so scattered although I’m still very scattered now. Sitting at my nearest major intersection this morning I became disoriented and it didn’t feel like I knew where I was. Once I turned I realised it was all ok. It was a bit strange, just adding to my list of quirks :face_with_rolling_eyes:. It helped to get it out and face today.

Re: Just checking in.

Snap @CheerBear . Not sure if you read my meltdown from earlier on the struggle thread before I deleted it. No it didn’t happen with psych and therapist and I’m devastated 😩

Re: Just checking in.

That was a funny snap! Love that when it happens @Teej.

I didnt read your meltdown but I saw the strikethrough and can imagine it maybe would have had words that looked like 😳😡😳🤯😢😔😔😡 (you do that so much better than I can).

That is SO 😔 about the conversation not happening. Was that a psych thing? Will it happen soon? So, so sorry. Devastated is understandable. The intersection moment sounds scary and like a majorly overloaded head. Again understandable if that's what it was, but a reflection of how hard things are for you as the moment. I wish there was a way to make it better.

My day was really quiet but OK thanks. I have way less energy lately as I like to have. After doing nothing today I have not long woken up from crashing on the lounge after I made dinner. I am still thinking something is a bit off somewhere just not sure where yet 🤔

Re: Just checking in.

I think it was the psych @CheerBear . My therapist said she was available at the time they had arranged. I’ve been slightly paranoid that my psych is reading my stuff, which shouldn’t be a reason not to contact my therapist. I :sos_button: my therapist for the third time this week before. I haven’t done that like I have in the last fortnight for years. She was unable to talk but we will catch up at some stage. So today has been crappy for so many reasons. Other stuff happened that was small in context but ended up overloading me.

Sorry you are feeling flat. It could be just that your body is recovering after a very busy and stressful time. It’s really only been a week since you’ve had some kind of normal, and it’s still a new normal with ndis and fish settling and hormones probably still settling etc etc.
