Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Re: Just checking in.

Thank you for your encouragement always @Teej 🙂😊

I so hear you with the needing c-link so you can do the things that will mean you don't need c-link 😖 That part was another major do-my-head in part. I spent most of last year putting my goals aside so I could find the support I needed (like c-link and the NDIS) to be able to work on my goals, one of those being a goal that would mean I didn't rely so much on things like c-link an the NDIS. Its brain mashing, stuck in system stuff. You're right in the middle of it at the moment and it's so huge and horrible feeling. You won't always be here though and you are getting through it, even if it doesnt feel like you are.

Next week is big and I wasnt breathing well the week before either. Trying is good. You can always give yourself points for that one 😉😘

I hope your therapist is helpful ❤

Hugs and s to you both @Teej and @CheerBear . Haven't got words to contribute but I wanted you to know I'm following along here. Good on you both for your persistence.

Re: Just checking in.

Running the risk of being a pest but wondering how your afternoon went @Teej (with no pressure to reply). Hoping tonight is calm-ish/er 💙

Also @eth just wanted to send you some thoughts tonight too. I'm guessing there are some things bubbling away for you that led you to starting the grief thread (might be wrong there though). It's such a big, important topic and so helpful to be able to share experiences in this supportive space, but maybe also tricky to think about about things at times too. If that's the case for you, I hope you have some kind and gentle moments in your night ❤

Re: Just checking in.

Just spent 2 and a half hours doing a jigsaw @CheerBear. I guess the good news is that I could do one.when I’m too distressed that goes out the window. I came home with my head spinning lots. I really don’t know what way is up just now. I spent the first hour going in circles about Centrelink thing and what my psychiatrist had written for them. She convinced me it was all ok. Then she broke down some points and realised why I was so panicky and although my psychiatrist had written a good accurate report it would not help my case because she didn’t address what needed to be addressed. From what I understand (and I could be so wrong) is that Centrelink is only giving me this job capacity assessment on new conditions. If it’s still under the old diagnosis then I’m supposed to apply for the DSP. My psychiatrist has specifically written in the report that she won’t support me going for the DSP because we were working on getting me to get a job at some point.....just not this point. My therapist then then realised that I was going to struggle with all this by myself at Centrelink. She is going to speak to my psych tomorrow, they’ve set up a phone appointment. I’m not sure what the outcome will be.

I broke down over all the the things I should be working on that would be helpful now instead of this. Long story long I second guessed myself, thought about how I should be at the point to deal with this, then thought about suicide at that thought, then felt selfish and self centred and thought about suicide some more, then finally did a puzzle. I’m ok but I know I’m flipping all over the place. Not that long ago (a month ago) I wasn’t doing this. I was going more forwards than backwards. It’s the first time I’ve become really angry at it all, that I should be working towards my goals, thinking of living not dying, looking forward to my son coming home and sharing his life, not counting down the days until I can die because he is home and I won’t interrupt his travels 😔. I am ok but this is the stuff that is taking the forefront again. I’ve lost the plot with self care and am on survival mode and it feels crappy. I really am ok.....for tonight anyway. I’m distracting the night away (new song in that :face_with_rolling_eyes:).

Sorry to dump this here but I just needed someone to know that I’m feeling very messed up and conflicted. I’ll try to be more positive now that this is out 🤦‍♀️.

Thanks for thinking of me @CheerBear . I've just responded on the Experiences of Grief thread in detail.

Thinking of you and sending hugs @Teej

Re: Just checking in.

You don't need to be more positive @Teej, unless you want to be. I hear your (was going to say dump but that didnt sound right! 😉) messed up and conflicted-ness and it makes sense that you're feeling that way.

I'm trying hard not to say things that I maybe shouldn't about psych. Do you know what the point is when you and your work with her is supposed to be about working on getting a job? I will bite my tongue (fingers) now keeping my grrr voice quiet. I really hope the conversation between psych and therapist goes well.

I read the round and roundness you described with your SI and it took me back to the times I've felt that way also. It's a horrible cycle to get stuck in but it sounds very much like you're keeping yourself from getting too caught in it. Puzzles are good.

Do you have anything on for tomorrow/the weekend?

Re: Just checking in.

I would actually really like your opinion @CheerBear , I don’t want you to have bite marks on your tongue.

Part two and its adding a huge huge layer of added stress. My brother is arriving in a few weeks. He is going to stay for a few months (like about 3ish). There is a long complicated reason for that which I won’t go in to (not bad or illegal). For lots of reasons he is in need of money (again complicated reasons but not bad or illegal and it’s not life threatening). He has spent over 100k on me and the boys to keep our heads above water. My house settlement would help him out heaps as it is going back to him. My ex has been playing games and now we are at the serious part where my brother is going to engage lawyers (I will probably miss out on 20k before lawyer fees just by going this way as I don’t think he will honour the agreement if lawyers are involved). The problem is that I will have all the stresses of him just being here.....he can be very fixit brain too, plus having to deal with property settlement. There are other layers of guilt and shame that will come with his arrival as well. It’s a whole Pandora’s box even though he is on my side.
