Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Re: Just checking in.

@CheerBear @Teej I do think we should have a forum meeting in Tassie - everyone could come down here for a weekend and we could all catch up - sounds like many would like to visit.

Haha @Zoe7. It's funny to imagine what a forum meeting might be like. How's the heat where you are today?

Re: Just checking in.

haha @CheerBear I think we have an image in our heads of everyone tht would likely be nothing like in person - would have to wear our avatars as masks lol

It is hot outside - not sure it has got to the expected 36 but close. Inside is still a really comfortable temp - hoping it stays that way this afternoon. I really should close the blinds in the kitchen before the sun moves around that way in an hour or so.

Still haven't given Toby a bath as he is still sleeping but plenty of the day still to go.

Re: Just checking in.

I agree with the image we have in our minds of members probably being pretty different to what they really look like @Zoe7. Sometimes people say something about themselves (hair length and colour, glasses, size etc) and it throws my imagination completely!

On the app I have it looks like many places in Tassie shouldn't reach the max forecast temp so hopefully you'll stay comfortable enough this afternoon.

Hope your sand baby enjoys the bath!

Re: Just checking in.

It actually seems to be cooling off outside at the moment @CheerBear but I wasn't really out there long enough - just got the last of the washing in.

My little sand baby is currently rolling around on the floor making woofy sounds - he is so cute when he does that. Now he has taken himself off to the spare room (he has a bed in there too) so he must be a bit hotter than usual as it is much cooler in that part of the house. It shouldn't be long before he is back on the couch though - yep here he comes lol

I agree - we hear different things and have an image in our minds and then something is written that totally dispells what we imagined - one of the fun things about the forum too though!

Re: Just checking in.

Sorry I dropped out suddenly yesterday @Zoe7, @CheerBear.

i crashed and emotion slept something off that came back to bite me later and then I fell in a huge hole and needed crisis support. Then went through the shame game of having written on here about learning about resilience from you both and then couldn’t find that inner strength myself and had to shut down with meds to get through. Today has been a myriad of emotions and fears but I’m ok, although will take meds again soon to give myself the best chance of getting through again. I have been totally thrown by the job network thing. I’m not doing such a good job of putting on my brave yet.

Hi @Teej

Do what you need to get through.

I had a not good experience with a job network a couple of weeks before Christmas. I need to do things in my time frame.

Re: Just checking in.

Me too @Appleblossom. It sucks. Are you having to attend? I was just trying to work out my life living on my own which has been a big thing and this has just made me put my hands up in the air with lots of what’s the point and shattered confidence.

Re: Just checking in.

That is all completely understandable @Teej - worrying about the job network stuff would be just one extra thing that you really don't need. You have been doing so well regardless of the last couple of days Teej and this is just a setback - which we all have. I have had a flat day myself - lots going on in my head today - think being tired has not helped. I am only telling you that because we all have days that are not ideal but you are taking steps to get through until the job network stuff on Monday arrives and that is good self-care.

Resilience isn't just about being okay all the time - it is also how we claw our way back up after we have had a fall - and you are doing that Hon. Be kind to yourself, get through the next couple of days and start again - that is all we can do sometimes.

Here listening and walking with you Teej - anytime you need

Re: Just checking in.

Thanks @Zoe7. Sorry to hear you’ve had a flat day too. It just feels like all my goal posts were shifted and I’ve been blind sided. I was doing the best I could have in the last few weeks. I don’t know what will happen next. It’s a pretty huge thing for me. I hate that it is, it’s one of the things I carry so much shame for.
