Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Re: Just checking in.

@Teej I don't expect many to make it to the party tonight - it has been very quiet on here for the last week or so - but hoping thse that need that connection tonight can join us. I may not even make it far myself - pretty tired this afternoon already.

@Former-Member Lovely to see you here today and I hope the new year brings with it some joy and happiness for you

@Appleblossom @CheerBear Always lovely to see both of you here

Re: Just checking in.

Wondering how your day is going if you're feeling up to sharing @Teej.

It's a beautiful mid 20s and sunny here, perfect for getting in to the garden if I wasn't feeling so lazy! Later in the week wh the heat is turned up I might regret not taking the chance today. Thinking you could be enjoying some time with yours today.

Garden or not, I am hoping there are no holes that have been fallen in for you understanding it might be a bit funny on your own again today ❤

Re: Just checking in.

I’m ok @CheerBear. I am actually strangely ok. I slept in really late like past midday as I took a strong antihistamine (guaranteed long sleep one) and sleeping pill last night. I’m taking them nearly every night to stay on top of my psoriasis which I’m kind of doing okish. I have new spots everyday but then some are disappearing gradually so I think I’m in an ok holding pattern for now. The antihistamine is letting me sleep but more importantly stopping me itch at night. I now have it from head to toe but so much better than last time. Bet you’re so glad you asked 😜.

I had had a long talk with mum before (there is no short talk with her 🤦‍♀️).

its starting to heat up here again, will be 41 on Thursday. I’ve struggled to get out in my garden or walk my dog the last few days as well. I fell into pity party lazyville again but will have to suck it up again. I am in the wars but nothing chronic with my physical mobility at the moment. I have planter fasciitis in my right heel, have done some recent damage to the cartilage in my left knee which is still tender and can’t get sweaty because I itch too much lol. If I was a race horse they’d possibly put me down 😝. Anyway I’m adjusting to this again and trying to find the line between being a wussy la la and where it will cause more damage. I’m sure you just asked if I’d want to whinge away 😘

have you seen your friend lately? How is that going? I read about your phone call to old friend. That sounds lovely....almost inspired me to contact a few but then again perhaps when I’m not in whinge away mood :face_with_rolling_eyes:🤦‍♀️. That I saved for you 💜🤗😘

Re: Just checking in.

😁😆 I love those kinds of replies @Teej! I'm really glad you're not a race horse 😘 Great to hear you're OK, even with the physical wars happening which sound sucky.

Have you heard from any of your crew?

It was awesome with friend. She's the kind of person we can pick up from where we left off no matter how long it has been. She's also the person who knows how to tease me in the best feeling way. Your sense of humor reminds me of her sometimes and when it happens it always feels good 😊

Yes I have seen friend lately, who spent a couple of days over xmas with us all, which was a bit of a big deal. He put up a tent so no questions were asked from little crew and also because I am definitely not ready for sleep overs here so that kind of kept that boundary in a way. I like him and his company but I am still in a place where I could just as happily not have it and sometimes I have to remind him that we are not in the same place in that way. I still get pangs of ouch and hurt which makes me sad and I find that one is often bigger when I am around him which I don't like. It's weird but it is what it is I guess and I'm trying to take it as it comes. Your turn to be glad you asked 😆?

Hi @Teej and wishing you a very Happy New Year for you and family. Bimby2.

Re: Just checking in.

My long overdue check in that I’ve started for a few days now in my head then ran away 🤦‍♀️.

@Bimby2 I hope the new year has bought you some moments of joy so far and that it continues to.

@Former-Member. I want to thank you for your lovely message. I’ve been thinking about you lots lately especially at this time of the year. I hope things are ok and that this year work is ok and you and the kids have some good times as well. It’s always lovely to hear how you are going and I’m sorry for my slackness in replying. I imagine you’ve seen lots of changes with them this year 😊

I only recently realised how much I haven’t been on the forum when I went to find some posts to get a quick review of how the past few weeks were for my psych appointment and realised that I hadn’t posted much that would help me remember.

@Appleblossom. Your post about your son playing the piano the other day made me smile. I always get a sense of the emotions you might feel when he plays. Thanks the other night for letting me know you giggled at my silly humour. It made me feel good to know it was appreciated. I know things area bit tough again but had really wanted to say the above for a few days.

@CheerBear Thank you too for getting my sense of humour and going with it. I’m glad you are still friends with friend :face_with_rolling_eyes:. I think it’s probably a good way for you to learn about you again in a fairly safe way......🤔mostly safe way 😘😝.

I am feeling really contradictory at the moment. I saw my psych on Wednesday and while it was ok I am feeling lost with EVERYTHING. I’m not sure what I’m supposed to be doing in the way of goals. It all feels a bit vague. There are some big vulnerable things coming up but I’m not seeming to be any clearer or understanding yet. I’m so hoping I can get some clarity soon.

Havent heard from any of the kids but thats ok, I wouldn’t have put my mum as my priority at their age either and am just glad they are all enjoying their holidays and being with friends at this time of year.

Not much to report in so in the great words of Mork....Nanu nanu

@Teej Your humour was so REAL about the ED.

From the sublime to the ridiculous and then some, but tempered by RAW experience.

Hope some clarity about direction for yourself emerges. You are a fully amazing woman with many talents, and waiting to blossom.

Re: Just checking in.

Morning @Teej. Loved waking up at silly o'clock to find this post 😊 It gave me a big giggle to read the 'mostly safe' part. A certain lesson learned the mega hard way means safe is something I am doing really well at now 👍😉 I was doing a bit of a high horse thing recently reminding someone about being safe in a particular way. I must have momentarily forgotten my recent adventure then had a bit of an "errr that's awkard' moment when I remembered 😆

How'd you go in the heat? It's supposed to be really yuck here today. Thankful it is only one day of it as we struggle when we have a string of hot days in a row.

Hugs for the goals and the vulnerable stuff. I love goals but they can make things really tricky sometimes especially when you don't know how you're going to get there, or life happening means they have to be changed, or they create too much pressure to achieve, or they don't happen for whatever reason... The flip side to setting goals can be big 😏 There's a cool thread started by Lauz about things we did well last year that we hope to do more of this year. I like that focus and keeping it in mind too. I hope you find your way through this vague soon and feel better about where to from here.

❤ to you 😊

Re: Just checking in.

Hey @CheerBear. Feeling a bit guilty that I haven’t given you much ammunition lately. I am however starting to look like a new species.....the pink spotted humanoid, a creature who hates the heat and can often be found near a fan. This creature is spending her days glued to the weather waiting for the right temperature so she can open the window and cool down. Chances of her mating are very very slim, especially whilst covered in spots (🤔 but also unlikely as this creature lives in isolation, mating occurs when one leaves the home and has contact with the males of the species other than ones relatives :face_with_rolling_eyes:).

On a more serious note im struggling to see how I’ll ever do more than I am. I have to face a job network on Monday. I have just been plodding along each day trying to make lists and be ok with me. I am ridiculously slow at getting things done but have been trying to be ok with that. So on one hand I am vertical more and doing more and possibly dealing with the depression in a more helpful way but on the other it feels like a world away that I am dealing with the pressures of a job network and Centrelink. I am petrified of all that comes with that.

It is getting cooler here after a stinking hot night. I’m glad it’s passed for now. My brain feels overdue with questions and thoughts and I think I might try to tick some jobs off my list for now.

I hope you and littles are keeping cool and that your world is ok today. 💜🤗

Re: Just checking in.

Hey @Teej I think you are doing well just getting little things done. Some days we seem more capable of doing things than others and the heat can certainly take its toll on us both physically and mentally - it is hard to focus when you are too hot to do anything!

I loved your description on the 'pink spotted humanoid'- made me giggle - you have such a wonderfully playful way with words

I do hope that the job network meeting goes better than you expect on Monday and you don't have to jump through hoops with them - having to deal with the job network and Centrelink is both tiring and stressful. It has been some time since I had to do that myself but I do remember all the things I had to do and that wasn't even when I was unwell - totally sucks the pressures placed on people who are unwell and the unrealistic expectations they have - and yet we still hear of those that wrought the system and get away with it - so unfair on those that truly need it. Sorry about that rant but it makes me mad when so many can't access the money they require and live below the poverty line (or worse) while some get what they don't need or deserve!!!
