Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

@Former-Member. No you were right to say what you said. It's how you feel. that's whats so special about this forum. We all have different experiences. Different coping techniques.
And I love how you are protective of us - your friends - your forum family. I could see that in your post to me.
And you are right. He should have said something to me. He should have had the guts. But he didn't. That's my reality. And I think that's @Zoe 's reality as well. But that doesn't stop our feelings of love. Which is a good thing. If our love could be turned off that easily - then it really isn't love. So that shows how strong we have been. We have been / are able - to love.

Thank you @utopia. True what you say about having different experiences and situations. I had suffered horrific abuse when young and the emotionally detachment just happened (survival). Yes a coping mechanism - a good way of describing it.

Because of past abuse I know that not all have good intentions, some even like to wound for kicks. My innocence was taken but not my spirit or capacity to love now. It was taken when I was young. I had to learn to love (if that makes sense). I had no role model and was cold when young knowing no better. Bad start to life but it did not define me thank goodness. But having been on both sides of the fence I know people's ugly side too. And will protect others from it if possible. Sometimes I may be too cautious perhaps

Now I love deeply most people I meet - I just don't get attached until I am sure they need me as much, care as much for me and my welfare as I do for them. That's my way of coping. There is love of people in general, goodwill - and then there are special loves that form special bonds with only but a few. And the latter have to earn and nurture that as I do with them. Thats how I weed out the thorns from the roses. That's my world.

You are so strong my friend, your love limitless. Any one would be honoured to call you friend 💕🌹(and yes if anyone hurts your precious heart I would like to kick their ass 😎)

Re: Just checking in.

@Zoe7. I know you are hurting. I know you feel empty and numb and a multitude of other emotions tonight. And I'm so sorry that you are In pain. I wish I could take it away.
Maybe it's okay to feel all that you are feeling. So long as you don't let your negative self talk take over.
I'm not sure if you can do it tonight - but maybe tomorrow or the day after - you could focus on thinking about what you liked about your friend. What did you love about her? Did she overcome big hurdles in life. Did she have a sense of humour like yours - or different. Was she caring? Empathetic
What did she enjoy talking to you about the most? How did she help build up your confidence? Your sense of self?
Think about these things. Have a cry when you need to. Sleep when you need to sleep. Laugh. Cry. Do what your body tells you to do. Don't do what you negative self talk says.
Writing this, I'm remembering some of the conversations I had with my friend. And remembering why I liked him so much. And I really miss my conversations with him.
Yes I would have liked him to tell me why. And what happened and where he is. But he didn't. So. Sometimes I cry. Sometimes I don't. But I don't regret opening my heart.
