Just checking in.

Just checking in.

I thought I'd start a discussion where we can check in with members and use this space to keep in contact. It's a space to be able to say how you really feel and it's a space for the good, the bad and the ugly moments in our lives.

Hi @utopia, @Former-Member, @Former-Member, @TAB, @Shaz51, @Former-Member and everyone

Sorry I dropped off. I had a rough patch, I'm still not sure which way is up but today I feel a bit better than I have.

Im glad you survived your work week @utopia. I bet you're exhausted.

Sorry to read you are having a rough time @Former-Member. I'm becoming very cynical in this world about lies and deceit. It seems so common place and people do it to make themselves better. The world has become such a competitive place. Lately I've watched people I really care about do it and it hurts to watch it happen. I think I've missed who it was with. Often I don't feel like I belong in this world either.

@Former-Member I hope little man is doing ok today. I've been thinking of you heaps and hope you are ok.

thanks for the shout outs @Former-Member, @Former-Member. I hope things are ok for you @Former-Member too.

@Shaz51, @TAB I think you've both had a difficult time lately too. I hope things turn around soon.

just saying hi for now. I might be hit and miss a bit on the forum.

Re: Just checking in.

@Zoe7. Oh I so hear your pain and I feel it.
I'm going through the same thing. After 10 years - I opened my heart to someone special. Only to have him dissappear without a trace - without a word - without warning - just after Christmas. So I truly do understand the devastation and confusion and anger and thoughts of ' it must be me'.
The reality is - it is me - & it is him. Maybe I'mtoo honest - too forward - too oopinionated - too strong - not girly enough - for him. But this is who I am. I cannot change who I am. I don't want to change who I am. I like me. I don't want to change for anyone. I want to be loved for who I am. Not merely tolerated.
On the other hand - maybe he realized he is not strong enough for me. Not settled enough. Not honest enough. Not worthy of my love. Although it would have been nice for me to be given the choice of deciding that.
It does hurt. It does shake our confidence. But like others have told me on this forum - please don't close your heart to opportunities in the future. It is what has helped in your growth recently.
Instead, maybe take time out to reflect on this situation. To feel the hurt. To sit with your tears. It's not easy. But I'm here to help you. As are others who you have friended on this forum.
I know no one truly feels how we feel. But I do get it. And if you want, I'd be more than happy for us to talk about this together. And maybe go on this journey of grief and confusion together.
I'm sending you the biggest hug of support and friendship.

Re: Just checking in.

& thank you @Faith-and-Hope for tagging me in this post. I'm doing okay. Moments of tears and sadness and missing him. But that's alright. The pain is a reflection of my feelings for him. So I'm simply focusing on the fact that I was able to open my heart for him. And that means risking being hurt. I'm surviving.
I hope everyone on this forum - can also acknowledge their pain. And even though it hurts - to know that they are survivors. And they are surviving today. Even if it's a hard day.
Thinking of you all. @Former-Member @TAB @yeej @Former-Member @Former-Member @Queenie @BlueBay @Shaz51 @diprotodron @Former-Member @Decadian& all

@Faith-and-Hope I would really rather believe that I did something wrong because I have nothing negative to say about this person at all. Whatever has caused them to distance themselves so abruptly causes me more concern for them than for myself. I truly care about how they are feeling at the moment and what is going on for them. If I have caused this, or contributed in some way, that would devastate me - but the fact is I don't know. The last time we spoke our conversation lasted nearly five hours then a message two days later saying they didn't want any further contact - I don't get it.

This is the first person I have placed ANY trust in (apart from my GP and psych) for over ten years. And I think I got very lucky in finding my GP and Psych who are so supportive (but that is also their job). Before that the only person I ever really trusted in my life was my Nan.

I have always been let down or hurt by everyone that I have started to place any trust in and I have never believed it was possible to trust anyone until this person came into my life. I actually still trust this person and would welcome them back with open arms and no questions asked if they chose that path in the future. What I can't cope with is that our friendship seemed to be developing in a really positive and supportive way (for each other) and then they simply chose to end it. I don't understand, with everything we have talked about, shared and been through that they couldn't talk to me about what is going on for them - that's why I believe it must have been something that I did!

I really have had enough of feeling so worthless - finding a small amount of happiness and then it being crushed for no reason. I am not a bad person - infact I think I am a really good person - but maybe I am wrong because everyone and everything (except my pets) in my life seem to hurt me and cause be so much sadness and pain.

Re: Just checking in.

@Zoe7. I know what you mean. I hate it when people comment negatively about my friend. Because to me - they don't know him.
I know that he is a good guy. I know his capacity for love. I know his capacity for self hate. And I worry about him. Even more so now. Because I don't know what happened ladt month for him. I don't know what is happening now for him. I don't know if he is in trouble. If he has been injured and hurt. If hhe's in danger.
And because I don't know - I imagine the worse.
And that includes wondering what I could have done - to avoid this situation.
Unfortunately, the reality is that we don't know. We can't know. It is their story. Not ours. And until (I remain forever hopeful) he reconnects and let me know - I'm in limbo. As are you @Zoe7. And that is hard.

Re: Just checking in.

@utopia If they are feeling even a small part of what I am at the moment then I am really concerned about them and what the future will bring. I am also feeling like this is the final straw - I don't think I can stand living like this anymore. I don't want to be always questioning people's motives and how they could possibly hurt me - I've had enough of that.

Re: Just checking in.

@Zoe7. I hear what you're saying and that makes me worried about you.
I understand the feeling of being hurt by people we love & being hurt one more time is like the final straw. It feels like it doesn't matter what you do - you can never win. I get that.
But when we get hurt again - our depression and negative self talk rears its ugly head. And all it says is how bad we are, how unworthy of what we desire, how terrible we are & how it always ends up this way. It's the way our brain works when we have been hit an emotional blow.
But that's not the reality. Our brain tries to trick us and stop us thinking or seeing anything positive.
But there are positives.
You opened yourself up.
You grew as a person.
You have learnt so much about yourself these past weeks.
You are recognised here for your kind heart, your honesty, your beautiful nature and your wicked sense of humour.
We know this about you after such a short time. Because like me - you are honest & you do trust.
So please - tonight - as hard as it may be - try to close your mind to your negative self talk - & instead focus on the beautiful zoe that we all know.
Sleep if you can. Scream. Run. Dance. Think up some shi**y slogans for t-shirts. Have a long shower. Talk to me and others.
But don't make any decisions tonight. Leave all decisions for tomorrow or another day.
