@Former-Member, hiding is protective but exhausting. I guess I always have my alone moments to let the mask down.

I hope Tom is a good day for you🙂

Hi @creative_writer

We have to agree to disgree and that is good.

That is respect.

I know you like to be open and tell everyone.

I am the opposite.

Why would l want to open myself up to people who really do not care, except a counsellor or doctor, when opening up just gives ammunition for opinions?

I accept you want that to be.

On my way home tonight i was thinking if @creative_writer is in a car accident, will creative want to listen to the others health issues or just license etc. The person who ran in to you may feel obliged to say they have ptsd etc etc etc and that is why.

I say there is peace in non exposure.

This is not to offend. It is to show over exposure has no value unless it is to those that matter

Re: Feeling lonely around people

@Former-Member, I don’t like to tell everyone, I would like to have a couple of close people in my personal life. I feel like I have no one. No shoulder to cry on, but it’s fine, I’m used to being alone and dealing with things alone

Hi @creative_writer

I had one excellent supporter

They broke down in the 8th year.

Helping others is stressful on the helper.

That is why there is Sane, lifeline counsellors, support workers.

Do you really think you can have a full on friendship, all day, everyday with someone if you have to listen to their issues?

I think you have to draw on services.

I feel you get good support here.

I see you support others.

It is too stressful for soneone to lusten every day. They want to go to movies walks, play sport.

This is my view.

Use the services l mentioned.

Other than that hide it and function.

I can see like me you are too focussed on the issue. You have to look outside. There is life.

Remember. No moping. Help your mum mopping!

@Former-Member, I think it’s a balance. But you can’t really have a strong connection without discussing deeper stuff. The idea is not to treat others like therapist, but to get emotional social support. The thing is, my brain believes that getting some of my emotional needs met in a relationships is not an option. My emotional needs were neglected unintentionally when I was a child

Hi @creative_writer

As l say.

Let us agree to disagree.

When l was younger a friend got divorced after about 6 months of marriage. We all had to listen for about 6 years.

So i disagree. That person could not get close to anyone because no one could listen after a year or so.

So the person drinks because no one can listen

You and l differ a lot on that.

I know some agree with you.

Other than on Sane, how many people do you listen to daily about their issues?

It is a burden most people are not wired for.

Butbl wish you well finding that person

Re: Feeling lonely around people

@Former-Member, I don’t mind listening to other peoples problem, I don’t personally feel burdened. As I said, it’s about balance, someone shouldn’t be talking about it all the time. Friendship is a mixture of the deep and fun. I do feel like a burden by relying on people so I often don’t. Sometimes all I want is a shoulder to cry on, not necessarily someone to talk to. Being held speaks more than words often do, but I will not allow myself to get that vulnerable. I just keep these SA memories in, so I guess the shame still grows

All good @creative_writer

I say on the forum we all are life experiences so we say what works for us.

We read what others do.

I better go.

Good night

@Former-Member, goodnight.

I feel like I’m not meant to be crying, it could’ve been worse, right? Trauma isn’t as bad as I make it out to be, right? Someone tell me it was a nightmare
