Is there every a 'normal'? Maybe you're asking a question that is too hard to achieve. Maybe a better question is when can I feel that my symptoms are not debilitating and impacting my daily life? For me, when I realised I was never going to be totally free of symptoms was when I started to feel better. Most people with a diagnosis of a mental health issue will life long symptoms. It's more a matter of learning to manage those symptoms so you can still live a meaningful life. Sorry if that doesn't resonate with you but it's what helped me a lot.

@hanami, I was actually referring to when my body would feel normal again, like when will this somatic flashback thing completely disappear? My body hasn't felt quite right since morning. I do think you had a good point though, I think a lot of us (including me) want to be symptom-free but it's not always possible

Hey @creative_writer ,
What you've just written reminds me of the World Health Organisation's definition of health. That is, "Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." https://www.who.int/data/gho/data/major-themes/health-and-well-being
It goes on to say:
Mental health is more than the absence of mental disorders.
Mental health is an integral part of health; indeed, there is no health without mental health.
Mental health is determined by a range of socioeconomic, biological and environmental factors.
I've learnt a lot from this definition. What do you think?

@tyme, I think it’s true that someone can have a mental illness and have good quality of life, it does take a while to get there. I’m trying to get there slowly, sometimes I feel frustrated that I’m not moving fast enough, but I realise these things take time.
@hanami, it’s all good. I think you did still raise an important point. I’m slowly starts to feel more normal, today was weird. It usually doesn’t get this bad anymore, I think I literally had a panic attack this morning 💖

I see through your posts your outlook seems to have greatly improved from when I first started last year @creative_writer . You'll have bad days yep. But I see you have definitely come far even if you don't feel that some days yourself.

Re: Feeling lonely around people
@hanami, maybe today is just a bad day. Healing is a rough road. I’ve been trying to work on reframing things lately too, my brain by habit becomes fixated on loss and pain

It's soooo okay to have a bad day. I think we need to allow ourselves our bad days. The bad days make the good days much more appreciated. ❤️

@hanami it does make you appreciate the good days. I’m still waiting for the discomfort to pass, it’s evening and my body still feels wrong, don’t know why it’s lasting so long 😢. I can’t really make it go away, I think I’ve been so fixated on that today. I guess all you can do it cope with it 💖

I am feeling better today. Right now, I feel like picturing myself putting the trauma in a room and, lighting it and burning it, I feel so done with the heaviness
