Socialising for Beginners

Socialising for Beginners

Thanks for the encouragement @Jynx
I put it in the Looking After Ourselves section as I believe the forums social spaces do a good job, of allowing the online community to get together in various social ways. I am more interested in working out or working through real life socialising experiences. Where we do not have the protections offered by anonymous online interactions.
Socialising for grown ups who have been isolated and are trying to re-enter general community groups or just trying to meet people is no easy feat. Its more difficult than for children and puppies as we usually have a lot more baggage, whatever that may mean.
From the online dictionary for a start:
verb: socialise
1.
participate in social activities; mix socially with others.
"guests can socialize in a real holiday atmosphere"
2.
make (someone) behave in a way that is acceptable to their society.
"newcomers are socialized into orthodox ways"
Similar words:
interact
converse
be sociable
mix
mingle
get together
meet
Seems to require more than simple social skills training.
I started one therapeutic relationship with that as my main goal. I knew I had limits and was willing to learn, but she was not a great a teacher and eventually admitted it was not her strength. I have accepted that I am relatively introverted and there are advantages and safety with that, but also the yearning for human connection persists within me. So I do not really want to keep myself to myself. This forum has been a wonderful opportunity for me to try different things and meet people.

Just tagging a few who I feel may be interested, but this discussion is open ...

That's gorgeous @tonys . I love nature imagery.

Fruit picking season must be pretty full on for you. A lot of work in a short time.

My orchard consists of a grapefruit tree. Next door's plum tree used to overhang it and one day I saw two ringtail possums shimmying down to eat my grapefruit peels. I was happy to share.

Re: Socialising for Beginners

@Dimity thankyou for that. You can make all sorts of little things, with no more than a pocket full of words.

So. . . I wonder if that plum tree and your grapefruit tree were actually sole mates. You know,

one with its protective arms around the other. Maybe even a lovers embrace on a moonlit night, while all the worlds asleep, dreams can make anything possible.

I know they farewelled each other, . . . but if it was worse than that, . . . don't tell me.

Let me prolong the dream. . . . and happy dreams to you. . . tonys moon base 1

Re: Socialising for Beginners

Thankyou so much @Dimity You do realize its hard to type through a crazed teardrops of glass, but this just flays the flesh from my bone. Simply . . . its beautiful.

I posted about tin cans and fragile threads of wool in dark valleys months ago but thought

it was just my valley, and no one got it. Why cant people like this rule our world,

There flowers are trampled should they ever get a foot hold, the Robo debt rulers and do goody good foolers. The keys held so tight in their fists, now steel balls of power corruption, polished and honed to a flat screen glaze

of crowd pleasing apathy under the ever growing clouds made of . . . 'selfies'

Its so so hard for me to navigate emotionally through this seas of wires that strangle my sails,

and this angel poet, . . . she can see through walls,

Can some body please put her in charge, course she'd never do it, she is pure of heart.

Again thankyou, Now, its the book keepers birthday but hope its a to be continued space.

May you all be in control of both ends of your skipping ropes. best wishes.

I hope every one gets a look at this girls poem you so thoughtfully sent me.

Re: Socialising for Beginners

@Hello @Bunniekins You ask me for a poem and I did promise you room service, You spoke of your inner child, the 7 foot man, a defensive shield, my guess. and wolves. You have an abstract image mind, so I chanced an abstract painting.

I I struggled in north Canada for a couple of years while a lady I new struggled on the streets of Boston. Letters was all we had, and neither of us made it through. So some of your words took me back to that time, and didn't want to leave it on the music thread.

WOLF AND THE HAWK.

Cries of white wolves cold mountain nights

Funeral fires fuelled by love letters delights.

Satin eyes silk web sighs

unwanted hands on unwilling thighs

White wolves beyond city lights . . . .

- - - - - - - - - -- - - -

Cries of white hawks nests made of steel

Timber wolves culling the fake from real

flowers and truths that you feel

_ _ _ _ _ _ _

Wolf dreams of far away lands

Silent the phones in our hands

Serenade choirs of stony faced liars

Dinner dates strangled on webs of barb wires

Hawk knows what true love demands

_ _ _ _ _ _

White feather takes to the wing

On trades winds sweet promises bring

Snow storms of ice thorns

Weans weak from new-born's

The tempests lost songs she cant sing.

_ _ _ _ _ _

Purity claims its full price

Surrenders her life to the ice

So choose death in snow

For well do we know

Ice canyons ghosts live their love twice . . . tonys moon base 1

Worlds would I trade to feel just a heart beat of absolute. . .purity.

and thankyou @Bunniekins for letting me spill all that

@Dimity hope you will accept this in exchange of that poem you gave me,
