Something’s not right

Trying to ignore it

Trying to ignore it

I am trying really hard to ignore the thoughts but it is getting harder each day. I don’t know how to explain the thoughts very well but it is mostly to do with being scared of my treatment team and what they are planning to do to me. Idk it is really hard to explain like I just keep thinking that they are going to hurt me and that they have been getting into my head to try and control me and some other really scary things I can’t mention on here. And I keep thinking they aren’t even real people like maybe they are these demon creatures that have been following me for a long time who want something from me that I can’t say on here and ugh I just I am trying to ignore it all but I keep getting freaked out by it all.

Re: Trying to ignore it

Hey @Eden1919 , sorry to hear how you're feeling. It sounds like a stressful time and I imagine some of those thoughts are quite frightening. I'm glad you've reached out for some support.

It sounds like sleep has been a bit of a challenge lately too. Is there anything you can do to wind down and try to get some rest tonight?

You mentioned feeling really off, so I'm wondering if it might also be helpful to reach out to someone in your support network to talk?

Of course you are welcome to keep posting here for peer support, but please also reach out to others in your network if you are needing one-to-one support. You could also try one of the following services:

Lifeline: 13 11 14 or Crisis Chat

Suicide call back service: 1300 659 467 or online counselling

Samaritans: 135 247

Take care @Eden1919. I hope you can get some rest tonight and things feel a bit better in the morning.

Re: Trying to ignore it

@Former-Member I have been sleeping too much lately anywhere around 16hours a day it is not good but i am so tired all the time i cant stay awake. i dont think sleep will fix things at this rate. i dont really have anyone i can talk to at this time of night not about what is going on and even tomorrow my supports arent around then either so i will have to just wait it out. i am just frustrated because i have things to do but cant seem to do them and it is making everything terrible idk how to explain it but i am just really struggling.

Re: Trying to ignore it

Hi @Eden1919 just wanted to pop in and see how you're going today.

Over-sleeping is a tough one because it 100% can contribute to a feeling of being exhausted. Seems like such a strange irony huh?

Would it work for you to try to set alarms to wake you up the same time each day? It might mean you then don't get enough sleep for a few days, which will definitely suck, but getting yourself into a regular sleep schedule and trying to get somewhere between 6-10 hours a night could go a ways to improve your energy levels. Just a thought.

I'm here if you wanna chat today 💜

@Jynx I have tried resetting my sleep schedule but nothing works.

i am just really struggling with everything at the moment and i want to cry because i cant do anything i need too and i am supposed to be starting uni tomorrow and i just hate this i really do. plus last night i was so scared because of all the thoughts and stuff going on which is hard to explain and now i just feel horrible.

Re: Trying to ignore it

That is frustrating @Eden1919 I hear you. Starting uni tomorrow would add a whole extra layer of pressure and expectation - I hope your first week is pretty chill though, you know just learning about the subjects and when assignments are due and stuff, so hopefully won't be too overwhelming.

Sounds like your mind is a busy place atm - how do you 'switch off'? Distraction maybe, or going for a little walk?

Re: Trying to ignore it

@Jynx i dont switch off even while i am sleeping i am thinking i do try distractions and such but they dont always work very well at the moment nothing is working very well i am trying everything i can but yeah idk it is just hard.

i am struggling to do anything still and i just keep thinking that people arent really people and that they are planning to hurt me and some other stuff idk how to explain idk it is just hard and i am trying to ignore it all but it is difficult plus i feel really agitated and on edge for some reason idk what is going on oh well i will try and keep ignoring it as much as i can for now that seems to be all i can do at the moment.

Re: Trying to ignore it

Hi @Eden1919

Well, if your treating team are psychiatrists they kind of are trying to get into your head. Sorry to be blunt, but that has been the stated aim of psychiatry since it began - to unlock all the secrets of the human mind. But they have far too much control in society and I don't think they really know what they are doing, or what harm they could cause. I had to tell them to back off as they wanted to keep digging into my brain too. But I had to start the long process of weaning myself off them in order to protect myself. I know many may not be that fortunate. They actually seemed quite desperate when I pointed this out to them. I'm not sure of your exact situation but your handle gives a clue in how I was able to deal with them.
