I was always depressed that I didn't have a life when I saw all my school mates move on, get a good job, get married, have kids, travel the world... while I was hiding under the covers - hiding from the world in my depression.

I don't believe I properly started my recovery journey until maybe 32? And now, I'm making up for all the years I've 'lost' - now I feel I've done way more than other people. @Birdofparadise8 @Kyle1 @creative_writer .

I see myself as a 'late bloomer'. It took me longer to get there than others, but I got there at last. Also, I'm one to be 'slow and steady' and eventually 'win the race'. As opposed to some others who've done everything by 18, and are miserable for the rest of their lives?

I'd rather take it slowly. I honestly don't regret the time I had in my recovery.

I feel you there with people around you moving on. A lot of people in my year were doing a lot of things and had things in their favour. While I am stuck here with my depression and living in the past.

So did you spend much time in your room when you were around my age?
