Not Coping

Not Coping

Hey everyone how are you all?

@RiverSeal @Shaz51 @NatureLover @tyme @Former-Member @Eve7 @Former-Member @amber22 @Jynx @FloatingFeather

I'm not doing great at all today. I'm feeling down. I also keep beating myself up for everything and feel like I'm just failing. I need a break from everything. It's getting so hard that I don't know how to keep going anymore especially since I can't talk to anyone around me as they are leaving me or don't understand.

Hope you don’t mind me reaching out I just really need a chat and though I could come on here and vent and talk for a bit.

Thank you

Re: Tw Not Coping

If you go to ED, you wait a VERY long time. Then the mental health team sees you. They determine next steps including admission, community follow up, or referrals to other services. @Birdofparadise8 .

That's pretty much it.

Re: Tw Not Coping

@Birdofparadise8 mental health triage is another option. But if you go through with them, be honest. I found it so much more useful when I was honest. Be honest about the intensity of your thoughts and other relevant details, supply as much information.

Ah okay go to know thank you @tyme

I did the triage via phone through the RHH and they were terrible the acute care team didn’t help me at all @creative_writer

Re: Tw Not Coping

After i was admitted once, I got the number for triage in my region and I used to contact them regularly. It was hit and miss. Sometimes it helped, sometimes it didn't. What I liked about triage was that i didn't have to go through my story again and again. They had my details and my files.

Re: Tw Not Coping

Yeah well if the triage can’t even help where do I go is that when I would need to go to ED if I can’t get support from then and I am getting worse @tyme

Re: Tw Not Coping

I guess ED is an option then @Birdofparadise8 - are you talking about tonight, or in the future after you move?

No not tonight I think I am safe enough.

Yes for the future for Melbourne @tyme

Re: Tw Not Coping

Ok @Birdofparadise8 .

So yes, contact triage first, then they can contact emergency services (which you probably don't want); otherwise, a trip to ED.

Someone from the MH team will see you, and then go from there.

Just know, they don't admit you unless they believe you are at high risk. They don't admit people for 'fun'. And from experience, being in there is not 'fun' either. It is more just containment for that moment. If you mention a BPD diagnosis, from experience and research, they do not keep you in for long. Of course, there can be other complexities such as co-morbidities. It is very individual.

Let's just hope you do not have to get to that point 🙂

Re: Tw Not Coping

@Birdofparadise8 when you move to Melbourne, depending on your postcode, you might be able to get support from the HOPE (Hospital Outreach Post-Suicidal Engagement) team. They provide intensive support for 12 weeks. You could look into that if you want. But you have to be referred to them. You could contact mental health triage once you get here if you are in an eligible postcode.

Re: Tw Not Coping

Going in an ambulance from uni sounds so great that would traumatise me so much.

Well no one seems to believe me anyway so I doubt an ED would.

Why does the BPD make things different @tyme

Yes @creative_writer I will have a look into it.
