Not Coping

Not Coping

Hey everyone how are you all?

@RiverSeal @Shaz51 @NatureLover @tyme @Former-Member @Eve7 @Former-Member @amber22 @Jynx @FloatingFeather

I'm not doing great at all today. I'm feeling down. I also keep beating myself up for everything and feel like I'm just failing. I need a break from everything. It's getting so hard that I don't know how to keep going anymore especially since I can't talk to anyone around me as they are leaving me or don't understand.

Hope you don’t mind me reaching out I just really need a chat and though I could come on here and vent and talk for a bit.

Thank you

Re: Tw Not Coping

I feel very alone since last year finishing with the psych that went through me so much. I saw him weekly, and going to nothing was and is hard. I am relying on online support more now and feel so overwhelmed.

Yes, it can be hard to open up. I also find it difficult initially, but as you said, @creative_writer, you need to find the right person.

I feel so lost right now and just keep digging myself into a deeper and deeper hole that is consuming me.

@Birdofparadise8 maybe it’ll help to have a few people on your support team. Sometimes supports move away or even go on holidays, it’s good to have someone else you can reach out to.

Re: Tw Not Coping

I was just thinking @Birdofparadise8 ,

You can also re-frame the whole situation and look at it that the psych has done such a good job that you can now practice some of what you have learnt?

This is how I soothed myself after I was discharged from a particular service.

I hope this help.

Re: Tw Not Coping

One question to everyone if you don’t mind sharing if you have had to go to hospital for your mental health and how you knew you were ready or needed to go for your own safety?

@tyme @Captain24 @creative_writer

Don’t share if your not comfortable I am just wondering for myself to know if I need to when the time comes or if it comes.

Re: Tw Not Coping

I didn’t really learn anything I mostly just talked about what was on my mind he didn’t really offer me any skills and stuff I only had a couple therapy sessions with him as I wasn’t technically supposed to see him @tyme

But I guess so were you discharged because you were better or because of other reasons. I only finished with him as the clinic closed for the semester.

Re: Tw Not Coping

@Birdofparadise8 do you have a GP who specialises in mental health. Sometimes when it’s hard to get an appointment with anyone else, GP appointment is always an option. But you really do need one you can trust. Just something I’ve been suggested before. I need to find a GP too.

I’ve only ever stayed in short stay at the hospital before. And went to emergency a couple of times. It’s for when you feel like you can’t keep yourself safe.

Re: Tw Not Coping

I was discharged because it was the end of the program. I did not feel ready at all @Birdofparadise8 . I went downhill after that, but by going down, I was able to find the strength to go up myself.

As for hospital, it was when I knew I couldn't continue anymore. I couldn't guarantee my own safety and I'd 'given up'. Going to hospital was that I am now allowing someone to take over because I couldn't do it anymore.

Hospitals do not like to admit unless it is very acute.

Unfortunately, all my inpatient admissions have been involuntary. It was the toughest thing for me. I can't say it helped in my recovery. It merely kept me safe for the night and then I was discharged. They do not like BPD patients.

PARCs was what did work. But this is my story. We are all different.

Re: Tw Not Coping

Yeah I have a really nice GP though she is hard to get into.

Ah okay is the short stay unit where you stay for a day or two max. I though that if you go to ED you get committed or something. @creative_writer
