Not Coping

Not Coping

Hey everyone how are you all?

@RiverSeal @Shaz51 @NatureLover @tyme @Former-Member @Eve7 @Former-Member @amber22 @Jynx @FloatingFeather

I'm not doing great at all today. I'm feeling down. I also keep beating myself up for everything and feel like I'm just failing. I need a break from everything. It's getting so hard that I don't know how to keep going anymore especially since I can't talk to anyone around me as they are leaving me or don't understand.

Hope you don’t mind me reaching out I just really need a chat and though I could come on here and vent and talk for a bit.

Thank you

Re: Not Coping

Glad you’re alright now @Birdofparadise8 🙂🌺

Oh - yes, lists are easy to lose track of..that happens to me all the time!
I think there was some talk around some things to discuss, but it was back a ways in this thread… I know we did mention it, however it’s just not coming to me right now 🙂

challenge thoughts of being to blame or feeling angry at yourself, does that make sense? 🌺🙂

Re: Not Coping

All good. I typed keywords in my email and then found them.

Blaming myself and being angry and the anxious attachment stuff or something else? @Former-Member

I'm a bit lost, lol.

Yeah, me too, thank you.

How are you so kind, compassionate etc. How do you write your posts using kindly or gently, etc.? How did you develop all that? A lot of people I know would never say the kind of things you've said to me. And also how your empathy comes across. Is it through your own lived experience?

Re: Not Coping

Thanks for sharing the cPTSD information @Birdofparadise8 🙂

I don’t know much about the intricacies around cPTSD at all - all I know is that I have it too 🙂🌺

I haven’t had any meaningful psychological support (I’ve had some intermittent sessions for a short time with a psychologist who used to sleep during our sessions, and one who used to cry during the few sessions I saw her), but in terms of any supports directed for me..no.
my GP is convinced I have cPTSD, and I know I have it due to the symptoms I have at times (mostly flashbacks), however beyond that, I do not know much about it.

do you speak with your psych about it, if you feel comfortable? 🌺🙂

Re: Not Coping

OMG, crying and sleeping, where did you find those psychs? I'm so sorry that happened to you.

No, I haven't. I don't have any flashbacks, but that quiz I did gave off things. @Former-Member

I never thought about it until the quiz came up as I was looking at a self-compassion one. I scored 1 out of 5, and five is good. Lol I'm so bad at it.

Re: Not Coping

I’m glad you found them @Birdofparadise8 🙌🏻🙂

I’m sorry - my brain is a little offline now.. shall we pick it up again tomorrow sometime for items to discuss with your psych and see if we can chase up the items off your list? What do you think? 🌺🙂

no worries 🙂

I think I write using words that I would otherwise convey if I was face to face with someone, otherwise using body language or facial expressions. And I also learned language context and word use in the 70’s, when our teachers were very old ladies, who learned language use decades before that 🌺🙂

We were taught to use words like any other tool - they can do a kindness, or they can do harm..we were always taught to use words wisely 💜🙂

I think you’re right, in that lived experience does shape a lot of what I say, that’s very true🌺💜

And not being afraid or defensive or judgemental in my replies - pretty much treating people how I would like to be treated, meaning, I wouldn’t say anything to anyone else that I wouldn’t say to myself 🙂🌺

Re: Not Coping

I know, right!? 🤭

They apparently were trauma informed and pain specialised, @Birdofparadise8 🌺

I think I had more therapy from the cat that lives at my local mechanic that I now see every few months! 😉🤭 just kidding! However, they were a real eye opener with regards to how vulnerable people who are stigmatised are taken advantage of, like us who live with mental health challenges and conditions 🌺 I also think it says a lot about how some health providers don’t prioritise their own professional development or self care, which then impacts on he vulnerable people they are there to support, too.

I think quizzes like this can be helpful in opening up topics for good conversations with good professionals, for sure. That result you have gives something tangible to chat with your psych about, I think 🌺🙂

Re: Not Coping

Oh gosh @Former-Member

I'm sorry that happened.

Yes I'll kept it in mind for my upcoming session and see how I'm going for time.

I think I might get ready for bed now. Thank you for talking to me and I hope you have a good rest.

Re: Not Coping

Thank you for your kindness around therapists that aren’t quite as professional as we all would like, I really appreciate it @Birdofparadise8 💜🌺🙂

ok that sounds good - even if the list for discussion starters for your psych is growing, take your time, and prioritise what feels more important for you, and then pace things over sessions into the future, is an option, too 🌺🙂

no worries at all - I hope you get some good rest tonight, and I’ll catch you tomorrow afternoon 🌺🙂

Re: Not Coping

That's okay @Former-Member

I couldn't even fathom my psych doing that. He won't even hug me. He is very professional.

Yeah, I'll give him a quick rapid-fire and be like pick one, hahaha.

Okay cool I hope you have a good day tomorrow chat in the avo.
