Something’s not right

I can’t cope

I can’t cope

Hi. I’m new and have never been in anything like this before.
I’m really struggling with depression at the moment and just need a place to vent.
there is no reason as to why I feel this way. I just hate myself and feel like I’m an unworthy and useless person. I don’t have a partner or many friends. I feel like I keep pushing them away when I’m down. I’m just not worthy of them. I hate life and just wish I would go to sleep and not wake up. I feel so much emotional pain inside but numb at the same time. None of this makes any sense but it just how I feel.

Re: I can’t cope

I’m glad they spent that time with you. It’s a bigger about animals. I hope you’re ok @MissGremlin

I don’t know. I’ve given up. I don’t care anymore.

Re: I can’t cope

@Captain24 it does make it hard at times.

I'm sorry you're feeling that way sweet. Would it help to write an email to your psychologist to get things out, or even just write your feelings out? I know that what happened last time made you feel invincible but the come down from that was very hard. Can we find some safer alternatives to try together?

Re: I can’t cope

@Captain24 here's some things that I've tried when struggling with the urge to hurt myself.

* Hold or squeeze ice cubes against your skin

*Eat sour or spicy foods to create a sharp, safe sensation.

*Snap a rubber band or a hair tie against your wrist.

*Take a cold or hot shower/bath, or splash your face with ice-cold water.

*Engage in intense exercise like running, dancing, or jumping jacks to release natural endorphins.

* Tear up magazines or paper, hit a punching bag or a pillow, popping bubble wrap, or scribbling hard with a pen on paper.

*Drawing lines or painting on the specific areas of your skin where you feel the urge to hurt yourself.

Dear @MissGremlin ,

Thank you for sharing these strategies. They can indeed be very helpful when the urges are strong.

Stay strong.

Re: I can’t cope

I actually tried most of those this morning before I contact the crisis line @MissGremlin I was prompted by some one else. It is stuff I had forgotten though

Im still coming down and can’t take it anymore which is why I want to bring back the invincible feeling and keep it.

Sorry

Re: I can’t cope

@Captain24 I'm glad that you tried things this morning sweet.

I know the coming down is really hard but maybe if you can ride it out then things might return to a baseline for you, I think it's worth a try rather than inflicting injury on yourself to try to maintain that invincible feeling. What goes up must come down, it's just a matter of how long and eventually even those unhealthy coping strategies can stop working and become more of a habit or routine.

Hi @Captain24 ,

We hear how hard it is. Do you feel you need to contact 000 or attend your local hospital? It sounds like an incredibly difficult time, and we want to ensure you are safe.

Re: I can’t cope

I understand the habit or in my case probably addiction. I just want that feeling not this one. @MissGremlin

Im about to feed the dogs and then I don’t know what to do. I think I have slept enough. But I don’t know what else to do. I’m sick of watching tv and nothing else is even remotely interesting.

Re: I can’t cope

@Captain24 I know you want that feeling sweet, but can we try to remember those other feelings before those urges really set in. When you'd found those glimmers, that determination to make changes in your life to help both physically and mentally. I know it's so hard espescially when coming down but trying to maintain that feeling isn't healthy and can be damaging in many ways.

Would it feel ok to try some diamond art or a 3D puzzle, or you could try some of the resin you've got or some Lego/mini blocks? Sometimes it's a matter of trying several things to find something that helps, but if we persevere it can make such a difference in finding what works in these really intense moments.

No matter what I'm here with you and just to help you get through the night safely.

Re: I can’t cope

Not yet @BAO I’m scared to go to hospital but I have considered it.

I’ll reach out if I come to the point that I just can’t resist anymore. At this very second I’m safe
