I can’t cope

I can’t cope

Hi. I’m new and have never been in anything like this before.
I’m really struggling with depression at the moment and just need a place to vent.
there is no reason as to why I feel this way. I just hate myself and feel like I’m an unworthy and useless person. I don’t have a partner or many friends. I feel like I keep pushing them away when I’m down. I’m just not worthy of them. I hate life and just wish I would go to sleep and not wake up. I feel so much emotional pain inside but numb at the same time. None of this makes any sense but it just how I feel.

Re: I can’t cope

Hey @Captain24 ,

MH and suicide discussion can be upsetting and too much for anyone, let alone those with MH and histories of SA. I am super proud you recognised your limit and were able to leave. I am not sure I would have been able to do the same, to my detriment! I just logged in a little while ago and I saw you wrote about your social phobia going into the training. Sounds like you set out a little fragile even before confronting MH and suicide discussion. I think it is great you know who you are, your limits and your support networks. I was not sure how my discussions on here would go being so new, but I am in awe of the people I have met so far.

I hope those thoughts can ease a little for you over the evening. What are your plans tonight? What kind of self care do you find helps the most in easing these thoughts?

@Captain24 I totally get being triggered, it’s hard. I’m doing social work, and I’ve volunteered with lifeline (but realised I’m not up to supporting people) and I may need to drop my study load because of my MH. It’s okay to walk away. I wish I had the courage too when I was triggered in class.

Re: I can’t cope

Very true @creative_writer, it is so hard to walk away. It is also hard to give up the things we think we can do, like your lifeline and reducing the Uni load. I think we need to remember that everyone's journey is different and what we should do to support our needs. I think many of us are too hard on ourselves to stay somewhere or remain doing things that are difficult and compromise our mental wellbeing. I like to say I live by the motto "choose peace and happiness for myself" as a guide to my life...... I say but that but very rarely act on that. Sometimes we get frozen in moments, places and moods. What do you do when you need to shake it up??

After some great ideas from @Captain24 too!!

Re: I can’t cope

I had help to walk out. One of the bosses that did know that I was in a battle, but not the details, was watching me and sent me a text plus another girl came to check if I was ok. When I walked out the boss gave me a big hug and we went outside and chatted. I was really lucky with the support I got. I do work in a great place.

My psychiatrist was so apologetic that she has been able to find the right meds for me yet! She is so lovely and caring.

My MH nurse was amazing and cancelled a meeting to make sure she was comfortable to let me go home.

Then the support from you guys @Former-Member @creative_writer @tyme

It’s so heartwarming the support from so many today.

The suicidal thoughts had eased until today. So the biggest thing for me tonight is to fight them. It’s a constant thought running through my head.

Re: I can’t cope

Wow @Captain24 ! The psychiatrist actually apologised?

I am in awe about how wonderful your treating team are. Seems so person-centred. We need more of that.

So happy to hear 🙂

Thanks for your reply @Captain24. What has worked for you in the past to ease these thoughts?? Do you like games?

Re: I can’t cope

@Former-Member I sort of disassociate that I only realise afterwards. I guess I need to learn to be mindful of my triggers.

@creative_writer I am the same!! Normally those around me know before I do 😲. Can be very easy to fall into the trap eh??

Re: I can’t cope

@Former-Member it is very easy to fall under the trap. I’m also afraid of missing out on important content during classes, but I know realistically your MH is more important. I’m learning right now. Sometimes you got to make the hard decisions. Like leaving lifeline temporarily or dropping to part time load at uni.

Re: I can’t cope

I guess I am really lucky @tyme it’s the only team I’ve had so it’s all I know. My therapist was surprised when I told her that I can call my nurse and GP at anytime. She made me feel like I was overstepping boundaries but I did check today and my nurse wants me to keep emailing and calling. She uses it to keep the psychiatrist informed.

I’m sitting on the lounge with Pixie @Former-Member . The safest thing for me is to go to bed. The next 2 nights I’ll have a friend here when I get home from work so that should help until the urge passes. I just have to get through tonight.
