Something’s not right

I can’t cope

I can’t cope

Hi. I’m new and have never been in anything like this before.
I’m really struggling with depression at the moment and just need a place to vent.
there is no reason as to why I feel this way. I just hate myself and feel like I’m an unworthy and useless person. I don’t have a partner or many friends. I feel like I keep pushing them away when I’m down. I’m just not worthy of them. I hate life and just wish I would go to sleep and not wake up. I feel so much emotional pain inside but numb at the same time. None of this makes any sense but it just how I feel.

Re: I can’t cope

I guess these things are inherently our personality, but when they affect our daily functioning, it then becomes a 'disorder'?

@creative_writer @Captain24

That's what I'm thinking.

For example, I'm one that used to be very anxious and reserved, hence, I developed an avoidant personality because it was easier to steer clear than to face situations....

Any thoughts?

When I read what I wrote in the beginning, I’m actually proud of how far I have come. I am no longer ashamed of my MI or of receiving help for it.

So true. That's me too! Since becoming a member on the forums, and being able to be free to discuss what was happening for me, I no longer feel like I have to hide my MH.

For me, the forums have helped immensely in this. @Captain24 @creative_writer @AussieRecharger

Re: I can’t cope

It gives me somewhere to start to work on recovery @tyme. It looks like it’s going to be a long hard road!

It is good to have a name and to know others are the same situation.

I probably do ‘qualify’ then.. but I’ll stick to one for now. It must be really hard to have both!

I still am a mess and defective! Lol. Always have been.

I was suppose to be at work today but because of my apps I didn’t go so I go back tomorrow. I am really struggling to go though. But hopefully the HR manager chats to me and helps with work.

Re: I can’t cope

@Captain24 it can be daunting to have multiple MI. I know there are certain tendencies I have, but I’m only really being treated for bipolar and trauma right now. I feel like personality disorders can come about from stressful events too, so have been addressing that. I’ve always had difficulty socialising with people, spent my childhood being bullied and then had major trauma when I was an adult but at the inexperienced age. I feel like the only way for me is to address the underlying causes. Know you are not alone, many of us have chaotic lives and we can support each other.

@tyme I agree the forums have been amazing and can help when things feel too much. It’s not always easy to find people you can relate to.

Hugs to both of you @creative_writer @Captain24 .

It's not easy, but your resilience it incredible. That's why we are all here together. To be, the pain and tears have been worth it. I think I'd be a really cruel, heartless person otherwise.

@Bow , are you around? Hope you are okay.

Here @tyme just not in a good place tonight

Re: I can’t cope

It’s starting to get confusing and overwhelming @creative_writer @tyme .

At this stage I’m only being treated for the bipolar but that could change when I see the psychiatrist either next week or the week after. They are trying to stabilise my moods first. But my nurse is going to start treating the AvPD. Not sure when I see her next though. But I can ring or email her at anytime.

The disorder stems from my childhood trauma and I was always a shy child which grew worse the older I got. It’s now gotten so bad that I’m struggling to go to work.

At the moment I don’t even cry. Even with the really bad depression I’ve been in in the last few weeks.

The forums have been great. I’m starting to open up a little in my outside life, and not be ashamed, which is helping.

I’m sorry @Bow. Anything you want to talk about? It’s ok if you don’t want to. I’m sitting with you

Re: I can’t cope

Thanks @Captain24 but don’t wanna bother anyone with my stuff

Re: I can’t cope

Unfortunately, personality disorder treatments are VERY different to bipolar treatment. Hence, if they have tried to 'treat' or stabilise the moods with meds and it hasn't worked, they then know it is more than that @Captain24

I'm so happy to see that you are well looked after. Not many people have the support from a team like you. It's actually quite remarkable.

I also hope that HR will be able to help you through this period.
