I don't know what to do..

I don't know what to do..

I'm struggling.. Big time!
A psychiatrist put me on new medication over a month ago, but doesn't seem to work. She asked me to go back to my GP for follow up as it causes me too much anxiety seeing her. My GP says the tablets could take another month 😞 another whole month of feeling like this just seems unimaginable 😞
I'm seeing a new psychologist today, freaking out. I feel crazy because I can't find one that helps me.
Trouble is hardly anyone knows I'm struggling because I pretty much put on a happy face mask 90% if my life.

It sounds like you tend to get stuck inside your head @Former-Member?

Have you tried any of the mindfulness apps, or grounding techniques? I know that quite a few members find them helpful when those intrusive thoughts and questioning get's overwhelming.

Re: I don't know what to do..

Yea, I do. I struggle with grounding myself, and often get caught up with bad thoughts going round and round in my head!
What are the apps?

Re: I don't know what to do..

I only know of these three personally:

  • Calm
  • Headspace
  • Smiling Mind

They are free. Others members might have ideas for different ones? But they might be good to start off with @Former-Member 🙂

Re: I don't know what to do..

@Former-Member. I just type in relaxation meditation into Google. That's where all my free downloads have come from.
I remember that feeling of worrying about what everyone is doing - why aren't I included - do they not want me - etc etc.
It's such a destructive thought process. The reality is we don't know what other people are thinking. We don't know what other things are happening in peoples lives. And that constant annalysing - it just creates more worry for it.
CBT- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a wonderful tool to help us determine if something is a real concern that may need looking at further - or if we are projecting or predicting things we cannot know & therefore - how to let those thoughts go.
I'm glad you have kept yourself busy cleaning and getting things ready for tomorrow. That's a great diversion to use.
Maybe when you go to bed tonight - try one of the aps. Or just try relaxing your body and then focusing on your breathing.

Firstly, I apologise to all, for some reason I am unable to show my support with a "+1 Like" to comments contributed by all?

sunshine1, our life experiences somewhat differ however the pain, sadly, I know all to well.

You mentioned that not many of the people around you know of what you are experiencing, this I feel we can all relate, we all have our "normal" masks that we put on when we go out or if people come to visit, these masks are very heavy and it takes great strength to put them on each day so it pleases me greatly to hear that you have this strength within you

It is also very pleasing to hear that you have an established relationship with your GP, they are the basis to getting help.

It is your right to seek and receive treatment and if you are not happy with your psychologist and or psychiatrist then keep looking until you are! I saw something like 8 psychiatrists before I found the one for me. Go to your GP, talk to them, tell them how you feel, they can impliment the changes immediately to get you the help you need.

Hi @Larutan,

you didn't cross any boundaries and diving in here is always the best option. I started this way too when I first joined. It took ages to start my first thread. I'm really glad you've found the forums and I hope you feel comfortable to keep posting and share some of your story too. I'm really glad you've found the support that suits you. Take care and hope to hear more from you 💜😊

Re: I don't know what to do..

Yes, my GP is someone who I trust immensely. I've been seeing her for 3 years so she knows a fair bit of my back ground!

It's funny you mentioned about strength, with the mask situation, because I feel the complete opposite!

Today is a new day, I'm off to work. I hope I can get through the day without any instrusive thoughts.

I was wondering if anyone else can explain this 'thing' in my head... I can feel mysel going into it. My eyes go funny, I feel like everything around me is closing in, almost like I can touch the walls around me even if they're 2 metres away. I go off for a bit, it almost feels like I'm not here anymore.
It happened this morning, as soon as I woke up. I first remember it happening as a kid, and has happened ever since!

Re: I don't know what to do..

I did the full day, with an 'I'm happy' 'mask on all day, I'm exhausted & don't really know why I do it to myself.
I think I've been leaning on my friend whose helping me too much, so I want to take a step back on leaning on her, but I'm scared what I'll end up like. She hasn't said anything but I just get the feeling this is all too much for her, which is totally understandable.
I feel so shit.
When do these feelings go away?
I get home & just want to go straight to bed, I never want to participate in life.
