I don't know what to do..

I don't know what to do..

I'm struggling.. Big time!
A psychiatrist put me on new medication over a month ago, but doesn't seem to work. She asked me to go back to my GP for follow up as it causes me too much anxiety seeing her. My GP says the tablets could take another month 😞 another whole month of feeling like this just seems unimaginable 😞
I'm seeing a new psychologist today, freaking out. I feel crazy because I can't find one that helps me.
Trouble is hardly anyone knows I'm struggling because I pretty much put on a happy face mask 90% if my life.

@Former-Member. You keep taking until you get the help that you need and that you deserve. You are too precious. Keep fighting. I know exactly how exhausting that can be. So use your friend as your advocate. Let her help. You and she can look into - where to from here.
Try not to be too hard on yourself. if you Need a day in bed -take it. Just try and get up the next day.
I know it's hard. I also got to the point of why bother - but I'm so glad I did.
I went to hospital. Got a change in medication. Learnt some basic coping techniques.
When I got home - I continued to expand on those techniques - with the help of a good psychologist. So don't give up trying.
Because when you get a good therapist - wow - the healing begins & it feels wonderful.

Re: I don't know what to do..

I'm starting to think hospital might be the option for me. No matter how much I tell myself, I just don't think I can do this myself 😞 I hate that I have to keep relying on my friend for help, I know I should tell other people so they can help keep me safe but I just don't want to tell anyone else, my family included, how much I'm struggling but I also don't want to burden my friend.
I just want this to get easier. But I really can't see any of this getting any better.

Re: I don't know what to do..

Hi @Former-Member. I'm sorry you are struggling so much lately. I was wondering if you have private health insurance and a psychiatrist to help get you into a hospital. It does help to have that, if not it would be worth talking to your GP about. They may be able to help you with getting more help. It does get scary when you don't know how to keep going.

I saw you had a difficult time with your psychologist and I was also wondering if you could ask your GP if he knows of someone who does Skype sessions. I think there are quite a few around. It may help your anxiety and you could still have your friend there. @utopia has experienced skype therapy sessions before.
I hope you find the help you need soon @Former-Member. Keep hanging on and talking to us if it helps. Once you find the right help things will get better. 💜😊

I understand sunshine1 My personal experience has shown me that I could only turn to both friends and family so much. I walked in of the street and admitted myself on several occasions, long story short, ultimately, what this course of action for finding help did for me was prolong it.

Getting a Psychiatrist, in my opinion, amazing!!

Re: I don't know what to do..

I am able to go into the private psychiatric hospital, but I need to wait a couple more weeks before my waiting period for private health is over.
I still don't know if it's the right choice for me, I don't know what the right choice is.
I'm just deflated and confused.

I was seeing a psychiatrist, but I found it so hard to see her, so she referred me back to my GP after 2 visits.

@Sunshine 1. My post should have said - keep TALKING - not taking. Spelling error.

Re: I don't know what to do..

I'm sure you've heard this or something similar before,

We are all travelling on our own path and we are all carrying our own luggage. This luggage reflects the paths we have previously travelled. Some of this luggage is much greater than others but regardless of how much or how little we each carry, it all weighs the same.

Here, where we are now, is where all our paths meet, we can interract with others, hear the different stories of the different paths travelled. It's free to take what you feel you need for you to begin travelling your path again and no matter what, you can always circle back here, to this place.

Talking to people whose paths travelled that closely reflect your own, can often be more beneficial for our paths ahead.

I can tell the stories of my travellings to try and help you but it is hard to determine if my path is a similar one to your own. To share the circumstances that determined my outcomes maybe inappropriate to yourself and to others but they could also help.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, are you comfortable to share more of the path you have travelled that has led you here for us to also be able to share?

I hope that make sense? I often confuse myself so I totally understand and won't take any offense if it doesn't

Re: I don't know what to do..

Hi @Former-Member,

I've been pondering your situation and although I know how it feels to feel like to be at the end of my tether with life I haven't experienced such intense anxiety about seeing health professionals. I don't know how that feels myself but I can only imagine it must be awful. I am thinking and may be wrong but if you could hold on until you can go to hospital then you may be able to have medication to help with the anxiety and be in a really safe and supportive environment to help you find some professional help that works for you. Although scary, being in hospital for a bit will definately help you get to a better headspace to connect with some staff. I wish you the best with this.💜😊

just tagging @Former-Member as she has some experiences with this too and may be able to help💜😊

Re: I don't know what to do..

@Former-Member. I just wrote an epic post for you and it's not here! Bugger. Will try to rememberthe main points (my memory is bad).
Ok - so you have a few more weeks until you can get into private hospital. So what can you / we (you are not alone in this) - do to keep you safe until then.
* keep posting here as often as you need to. You can vent to us, cry to us, laugh with us. Whatever you need - we're here.
* LifeLine & Beyond Blue - phone them when you need to speak to someone. It doesn't matter if you call them 5 times a day. That's ok. That's what they are there for.
* contact your local Mental health care team - your local hospital can connect you to them. They have the expertise to help you through this. Explain your anxiety and not being able to make psycholigist appointments etc. They will understand.
* be as honest and as open as you can with your friend. Explain you fear you are putting too much onto her. Explain you wish you had other friends that tou could share this load with. And then listen to her response. Because we often over worry and over think and project things on to others that aren't true.
* try not to predict the future ir worry about it. Worrying won't change the future. It just causes yiu distress in the now.
*You are always able ti go to the public in patients unit - & then be transferred to a orivate clinic when your health insurance kicks in..
I'm here for you in any way I can be.
