Trying, forever trying.

Trying, forever trying.

Hi. I'm losing my way again. I've switched medications and halved 2 others. I've switched antidepressants under the advice of my Psychiatrist. And halved two antipsychotics because they were administered by someone who in 3 sessions listened to me for a total of roughly 30 minutes. The new psychiatrist has seen me twice for two hours total. Mainly I think it's the switching of antidepressants that is screwing me around.

No suicidal thoughts, but I wouldn't be all that upset if I had another heart attack. I just want to be accepted and not treated like a joke within the local area. Which I'm 90% sure is happening if I go out. I went to the shops yesterday and it has really rattled me. I know that I'm better off on my own because even I can't understand the paranoia and feelings of self hatred towards myself. I've ruined most of my life through my own decisions and I do believe that karma is now kicking in.

Until nearly 6 years ago I abused alcohol 24/7 to get rid of the paranoia. Although that bought with it depression. FFS. I just can't win.

People in my area of the city I'm in all get a good laugh and gossip out of seeing me. A middle aged white guy with no friends, no partner, no job, no life and a recluse. I try to ignore the thoughts of mine, as they are just thoughts, but the impression and proof I get from others reactions to me, just reinforce my feelings.

I'm writing this to get it out. My family try to be close, but I push back because I've put them through enough. So most catchups I don't feel like I fit in. Even with people who love me I feel like I'm misunderstood and I can't let go of the thoughts that they don't really want to hear my F up thinking. So I try to stay alone as much as possible.

I'll try to push it all down, but it's getting harder and harder. Like I said though, I'm not in any danger. So why whinge right? IMO.

Hey @Ugly_Trout ,

Your posts remind me of parts of my journey where I continued to try so hard and I fell all the harder.

Sometimes, I had to stop trying so that I could see clearly - without the struggles in between. What are your thoughts on this?

Be kind to yourself, dear.

There are times we need to fight, and other times we need to be ready for others to carry us through.

Sitting with you,

tyme

thanks @tyme . I feel like I just want some instant 'cure' sometimes. Guilt is a b. And the road ahead will be long I'm thinking.

Re: Trying, forever trying.

True @Ugly_Trout . An instant 'cure' would be perfect!

When I was acutely unwell, I remember always praying for 'a magic pill' to 'take it all away'.

Now, looking back, I'm so glad I didn't, because my LONG MH journey has made me a much better person (I hope!). I would not be supporting others on the forums if I didn't go through what I have. It's been a long journey, but I don't regret it one bit.

And yes, I've hurt many people. I've hurt my family. I've hurt myself. That's why I'm here - to make amends and grow as a person.

What doesn't break you, makes you stronger @Ugly_Trout . I'm with you in this!

@Ugly_Trout music is great. I lose myself in colouring. The more upset I am, the more complex the picture I colour. I used to keep journals but they were full of dark thoughts and I worried that if something happened to me my family would read them so I burned them all.

Hey @Ugly_Trout it’s lovely to meet you here tonight and I can certainly relate to what you say especially about an instant fix.

If only we could take antibiotics for 7 days and presto we’re better !

Its hard, it’s long but here with you 💚

Re: Trying, forever trying.

We've all done things we regret @Ugly_Trout. I guess that is unavoidable for we humans. You are worthy. Just keep working to make yourself believe it. Have a good day!

Re: Trying, forever trying.

Hi @tyme . With the thought of instant cure, and I'll run this past my Psychiatrist next week, what are your thoughts on trying to get better without medication? I do believe they're helping, but not overly so. Bit early too tell with the antidepressants. Are they essential? Or just emotion blockers?

You probably can't answer that but it's a thought of mine. Thanks for the help.

Re: Trying, forever trying.

@Scream58 . Music is my go to all ways. Anything from nu-metal, metal, grunge, punk, rock and indie, depending on my mood. I find sometimes that the heavier bands have real messages of hope within their songs. So losing myself in that desperately searching sound can really distract me or connect me to others without the need to meet them. Music is awesome.
