Welcome and getting started

Trying makes it worse

Trying makes it worse

Hi,

I'm EternalFlower and I've been feeling completely overwhelmed, sad, and pessimistic.

I've tried and been a responsible patient and person, reaching out to various services when I started feeling scarily anxious and suicidal, 2 years back..

My Dr is new, a young guy who regularly admits he's inexperienced, and aside from some good jokes, he actually does very little

I notice how easy it is to blame myself that I don't feel better, a total shame spiral, but I wander if my treatments just are bad....

I wanted to chat and hear anyone and hope I can use this space to help not feel so alone.

Thanks xxx EternalFlower

That sounds so distressing @maddison that cm didn't show up today, they are so flighty and Ur poor friend....how consistently inconsistent.

I understand u didn't go into the meeting, but I imagine u waiting outside really helped. It's those efforts that are so valuable.

I'm sorry it's been so tiring. Are you OK?

Re: Trying makes it worse

This is wonderful news @EternalFlower 😊

I hope your new peer worker brings all the values of peer work to your life: hope, mutuality, empathy, respect, integrity. You deserve all that and more 💜

Hi @EternalFlower

Your message is like music🎼 to my ears.... Or I guess, like colours to my eyes!!☺️

It is kind & amazing of you to reply & relate to what I'm (we) are going through. I know it means a lot to him to have my support, although he is not always the best at expressing to me. It means something to have your support.. On his behalf! 💗

I am ok, thankyou for asking. I didn't realise the toll this last week had, had on me. I must have been running on adrenaline. Having relaxing day today, laying on bed, crochet, tv! I had intense anxiety attack last night. I was ok, mentally I understood what was happening, it was uncomfortable, I hid in bed & feel asleep. The thought of your anxiety, crossed my mind.

Are you ok?

Thank you💛💚🧡

I feel better today. 🙂

@EternalFlower

So good you have a connection with peer wkr. No good about that cm. Her job is not just management she is supposed to help you.

Experimented with a creamy chicken tomato soup tonight. Yum.

Emotionally delicate but hanging in there. It is what it is.

Re: Trying makes it worse

I have really appreciated the changes in the forums. First when Community Guides came in, and then later the Peer workers. It really makes a difference. @tyme I know I am often trying to give support, but the forum has become part of life and I feel the support too which is HUGE for me. Thank you.

Re: Trying makes it worse

Thank you so much for that feedback @Appleblossom .

I resonate with what you are saying because the forums have become part of my life too.

I'm not sure if you are aware, but I began using the forums a number of years ago. I later became a Community Guide, and from there, when I realised the benefits of supporting others, I looked into peer work. That is how I became a peer support worker.

The forums have taught me to reconnect with a world that was so distant from me. To begin to reach out to those in society. To relearn how to communicate with others.

I spent many years enveloped in depression and trauma - but the forums have helped me out. And it's members like you @Appleblossom @Shaz51 @TAB and others who have made these forums so accessible and inclusive.

I embrace you all as part of our forum family.

Kindest,

tyme
