Welcome and getting started

Trying makes it worse

Trying makes it worse

Hi,

I'm EternalFlower and I've been feeling completely overwhelmed, sad, and pessimistic.

I've tried and been a responsible patient and person, reaching out to various services when I started feeling scarily anxious and suicidal, 2 years back..

My Dr is new, a young guy who regularly admits he's inexperienced, and aside from some good jokes, he actually does very little

I notice how easy it is to blame myself that I don't feel better, a total shame spiral, but I wander if my treatments just are bad....

I wanted to chat and hear anyone and hope I can use this space to help not feel so alone.

Thanks xxx EternalFlower

Re: Trying makes it worse

God I love your sense of humour @tonys

... can I steal ... your line " I am recording for coaching and quality purposes." for my own purposes ...lol

Yep very cross about the distribution of guns and tazers .... worse than gunsNroses ... and no music ...

Glad you liked the talk. It seems a summary of a lot of the best in mental health or human development movements over the globe ... A lot I have come across before ... but he was a lovely guy.

Sad to hear you are still enduring hospital torments ... you are one tuff smart guy to be able to toss off all those metaphors ....hope it it is worth it.

@EternalFlower

Our hearts and minds inhabit our bodies and we do have to listen to them ... yes bend a bit to do the civil thing ... but not to breaking point. Tbh I had a few disappointing experiences with that organisation ... just on a money grubbing mission ... ooops ... IMHO... not caring really ... a few too many ethical blips to ever want to suggest them as an option to my son .... at first I thought they offered some hope ... maybe there is some point in following the money .... but it should not always be the bottom line ... just one aspect of legitimate organisation and human life on earth ... so glad I have a mind with which to escape at times ....

Take care of yourselves .... @EternalFlower @tonys @Oaktree @Shaz51 @tyme

Thankyou @Appleblossom > hows your day been. Yes I think the sense of humour is an undervalued MH tool, and folks have to have one at times to endure the likes of me... Help yourself the the phone tactics. As you know, I unashamedly stole them myself. I actually do miss the spam, sales men, and junk mail calls. I used to fake a woman's voice and tell them My husband would be really interested, but I'll have to run out in the paddock and get him.. then just lay the phone down and leave em waiting..

I'm sure I am on the "don't call that idiot" list, because I have not had a sales person or scam call for years.

So. later tonight I will watch the rest of the QaA part of that link. You've no Idea how much I enjoyed that fellow.

I reckon Stuff would love it too. He's a serious thinker that one.

Be back later tonight. Have a lovely evening Appleblossom.

Re: Trying makes it worse

Hi @@Appleblossom

Since i am not currently using any of these services i think its ok if i reflect on some that have been avg, bad and even great....

Vmiac was the best

Mind completely seemed good at the beginning but became nasty....like victim blaming and scary.

I felt pretty powerless. They told me since im on the ndis they technically couldnt support me but then took me on and said they dont like to shove people out and they've had people theyve supported for months while they get settled into ndis and that rhey bend the rule sometimes to prevent abrupt, traumatic endings.

So far so good.

Then, the worker i work with doesn't show up and is on leave a lot. I say i may discharge myself as its not been helpful.

Change of tone. We know ur on the ndis so we have a rule that only 8 weeks support. We need to tell you this to manage expectations.

My status with the ndis has not changed since i started. Where did they get 8 weeks from?why straight after i spoke about regular absences?

Not ok.

Sounds difficult @EternalFlower .

Do you think with these services, it depends on who you get?

Re: Trying makes it worse

My experiences with VMIAC have been fine. @EternalFlower

I do believe it is normal and human and important to want to reflect on and digest our experiences. Its a problem if that is not allowed...

5 years ago I got MIND newsletters ... looked good ... a fella phoned me out the blue about being on their database then offered me regular check ins ... I said good on him ... he was doing his job ...we developed a plan ... of using instruments they already had ... and running a group ... irl ... in a real location ... cos thats where instruments were stored and seemed silly to waste them .... went to an appointment to check them out ... but he had been sacked and nobody ahd contacted me ...to cancel ... then went to chrissie do ... which was all very well .... but there were strangely aggressive ... people taking control .. deciding what mattered .... everyone was going to do craft and cardmaking ... it did not look good to me ... I just thought 'wot a lot of bossy boots' ... I then ran into them again ... at a PARC where they were supposed to make a phone call ... but did not ... deals were done ... and were doing higher level ... new contract stuff ... woopee wooopee doooo ... do you think I was impressed ... nup.

... sorry you got the run around too. Do not think they have a good culture.

Re: Trying makes it worse

Hi @tyme absolutely it is who you get and ive used a phoneline at mind that was quite good..

It is confusing sometimes if they kinda...hate us? Thats how i felt

They said they would allocate me a new worker because the first one didnt show up but i got this bad feeling like feeling unwanted and blamed. They listened but subtle blaming

"You know u could call her as well!" ( I did, twice)

"You need to understand our restraints"

"She told you when she wasnt coming" (she didnt, she told me a week after).

I feel like i have to accept scraps or i am given more diagnoses and judgements, and they gor a sense i was bot happy so started blaming me. This means that it is a coded message that i need to never be assertive or give feedback or ask for more

Re: Trying makes it worse

I know so little about what you are going through, Sounds so frustrating. Ok hear goes.

I always feel these things need to be worked like a job. Big filing system. Registered letters and emails and keep going up till you get the boss. I got an NDIS ombudsman / complaints investigation unit with 4 phone calls, and I didnt even have a complaint..! just the autistic me exploring. Nice Indian fella.

Its your new career. When there's a 20kg of letters, you have a box of evidence of mishandling and incompetence then you'll discover their weakness. They are nervous of folks that keep meticulous records and keep hitting em with tonns of paper asking for responses "always in writing"..

3 copies of every letter.

I know its not you, but it is them, and you have to become them. You have to become better than

them.. Just methodically work each little piece. If nothing else .. in 3 years , you'll pass the bar

exam..!

So @EternalFlower . I just wish I could come down there and help. Thats all.

And I better add there are true angels in the gov system too. Over worked and under paid. You have to flip every rock on the beach to find them I'm afraid.

and at the end of the day, I would take apples and Thymes advice over mine any day.

I"ll get back to my harmonica. Try and sleep my friend. tonys
