Something’s not right

Still broken, still safe.

Still broken, still safe.

I don't know what to do. I'm suicidal around the clock with random good times when I get a break and it seems that all is well. I can't find help anywhere. There is an array of supposed helpful places and numbers to call, but nothing that helps me develop in a connected way with people in the real world. I'd love to meet with people such as are here, and all help each other just by being supportive while we get to know each other. Talk about problems when we need to, and just talk about anything at others. Develop it into a real world friendship group. There's plenty of things out there but nothing that actually helps. I guess I can't be helped. The people I trusted simply couldn't be trusted. None in the real world.

Some might suggest seeing a psychologist or another psychiatrist, and I may, but it won't help. It's would be like having an operation on an operation which has already been done to inflict greatest damage, without recourse for correction. My ex-psychiatrist left no room for recovery. They look at me and I see them thinking—'can't help, won't help', and I just give them more money for no service. My current GP has adjusted his responses to me in line with the psychiatrist's report, not the person sitting in front of him. He is playing being kindly, but it's not real. If he wanted to help me he would offer to do so instead of letting me fumble along. He knows the resources I could connect to and I'm sick of going around in circles trying to find out for myself.

I made my Will two years ago, wrote my good-bye letters, got everything in order and constantly update them. Each time I prepare to die, I reach out for help, am helped, and limp on a little longer, time after time. There's always something I'd like to watch on television in a couple of days, wait for the replacement cushion for my new sofa which is taking 16 weeks, will I get my eyes tested or won't I be around to collect my new glasses? Or how to go about it.

I don't want to die but my life is less than existence. It's hell. Everyone is just waiting for me to die. I don't want to be saved but don't know how to be sure of it. Why aren't there ways for me to function in this world which are compatible with meaningful life? I think a drop-in centre might be helpful? I'm just so tired of searching.

I don't know what I want from my fellow forumites, just respond in some way, please. Sending best wishes to everyone and hoping all are well and doing alright.

I hope I haven't spoiled anyone's day. This is my problem, not yours. I just need to know there are people who understand and actually give a damn.

Still safe.

@Former-Member @RedHorse @tyme @HeartSpace @Paperdaisy and all my other precious friends here. Too tired to list you all but you know who you are. ❤️ The last two years have been harrowing and I'm exhausted from all of the emotion, the confusion and everything else that has upended my life. It's been hell and I couldn't have survived it without you all. You have taught me a lot and I have found the very best of people here. Life can be tough, can't it? We all have a front row seat to that. Love, best wishes and better days ahead for all. I'm so very tired. Still safe.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I'm so sorry you had to endure all this @Historylover. Its hard when life just happens. Lets hope you can turn this situation around huh? I know the feeling of being at the mercy of events but life can get better and indeed it does. We get caught up in it and we suffer. I have found the people on here good too. Its a lovely community of caring, interested and supportive bunch of folks

Re: Still broken, still safe.

@Historylover It's a good sign that you don't want to die. Just keep trying no matter what. At least you are doing something to stay occupied. I understand the feelings of feeling like nothing is helping you, yet you still want to live your life. Keep trying new things if possible. Learn new things. If you are interested in something try to learn more about it. I know it isn't much. But just keep trying. You can replace many things in life. But you can't replace you. Stay as strong as you can.

Re: Still broken, still safe.

@Historylover you've certainly been a lot, and though I don't know your situation and can't relate to ever being in a relationship or having children; it must be really hard to be separated from them especially as it seems you care about them so much. And although I can't be certain of course, I do believe that even if it may not seem like it now one day your daughters will appreciate any effort you make to stay in contact with them even if just letters letting them know you are still there and care about them on their birthdays.
As for everything else, I'm glad you are safe, I hope one day you are able to care about yourself like you do your daughters even if it's hard and it takes a lot of work - you deserve that. I think the fact that you are seeking social contact and ways in which you can help others is important - I think it's very worthwhile and you are brave and resilient for trying, wherever you end up will be lucky to have you there.
I wonder if hearing other stories about people who have been abused by a psychiatrist in such a way might be empowering to you, so you know that you are not alone and recovery from that is possible? Unfortunately, I don't know any resources myself - but I remember listening to a podcast called 'the shrink next door' (and I know there's a netflix dramatization or something out now, but I think listening to the actual story told by the actual person may be more worthwhile). Marty was similarly alienated and taken advantage of by his psychiatrist, and in recent interviews it seems he is on an empowering journey to recovery including repairing his relationships however slowly - of course your stories wont match up completely but maybe listening to another persons story might help.
Of course it could work the other way and re-traumatise you and further damage your mental health, so it's important that you feel you are in a safe space if you do pursue looking into other peoples stories and not push yourself. And certainly don't do it if you think it might do more harm than good, it's a very tough situation to have been mistreated by the person who was meant to help - and it must be very hard to trust mental health professionals again.
I do wish you all the best 🙂

Re: Still broken, still safe.

@Historylover Hey.

Glad you have had lots of people to share with and respond.

I just had to tell you I have exactly the same thoughts about picking up my glasses. The humdrum of passive suicidal ideation. I have found a way recently to chat and tell god ... "I am ready whenver he is" ... oh drat ... you want me stay down here still ... oh well ... better sign up for something .... humph humph. I actually made a lady laugh today at the supermarket, carrying on like that ... it was silly ... we started doing stretches .. and I even shimmied a little .... 2 uninhibited lil ole ladies near the freezer section ....

and then ... yes I succumbed to the Amsterdam magnums ....

Re: Still broken, still safe.

Hello @Campbarry Thank you so much for your kind words. Today has been unlike any other and I can honestly say it was empowering. I won't go into greater detail as I need to sit and think on this. My story is a saga and I'm still trying to work it out myself. But I'm doing so. What doesn't 'wipe me out' me makes me strong!!

Cheers, my friend. As you can see, today is a very different day to yesterday. Thanks to all of my friends here.😊 Take care.

Re: Still broken, still safe.

Thank you for your response to my despair, @HeartSpace. I really felt this time it was all going to take me out, I am so battle weary. But the day has turned out so well that I am back on board again.

Welcome to the forum, too. Great lot here. I couldn't have survived the last two years without them. It has opened up my mind and I have learned a lot.

I enrolled in a seated yoga course myself today and will do my first session tomorrow. It doesn't matter whether I enjoy it or not, it will give me something new to try. I've done a few zoom classes but not found a lot of interest to me. I usually manage to keep myself busy with one thing or another but, at the moment, I am between activities. But the lull always leads to something else as a rule. Perhaps something I haven't tried before.

Lack of money doesn't bother me @HeartSpace. I've learned how to live well on little and I am usually productively occupied. I like to learn new things and that is always available in so many ways these days. I believe in Hope too, @HeartSpace, and resilience and self-reliance and growth.

Take care of yourself @HeartSpace. I haven't given up—and I won't! Same goes for you. Cheers 😊❤️
