Hi @Bunniekins @TAB @oceangirl and all here I've been thinking of trying a 5:2 diet for weight loss. I have a heart condition and need to watch weight, cholesterol and blood glucose. My sister says having the two low intake days is easier than dieting. I walk to the shops about twice a week but need to get back in the habit of walking or gardening most days. I've just reconfigured my Daylio app so I have these goals and can track my progress and see if it also helps my mood. The free version of Daylio seems quite good, it gives me reports and lets me set up my own lists of activities.
@Bunniekins and forumite friends and @Former-Member I hope I haven't breached any guidelines with this post. I'd really welcome the chance to hear from you.
Best wishes
Dimity

Sounds positive. @Dimity Yes posts re dieting etc can be triggering and thus comes under guidelines but on this occasion i believe your intent is positive overall. But its always a fine line! All the best with your health goals

well i'm going to get a diary and going to see GP for starters @Dimity , best of luck, I've forgotten what it is like to be healthy it's been so long

Sounds good @TAB . My GP a while back said she could refer me to a dietician who bulkbilled - that might help too. I can't swim but don't mind walking. Yoga or Pilates would be good if I could afford it and my old bones were up to it. Maybe later.

um that thing where you get 5 visits through GP, have a choice that includes dietician, my GP sent me for 2 visits, it didnt work at the time, but have useful info now that I am a bit more determined. I made myself into a good swimmer, but let it go over last 4 ish years, it would be really good for me if I started again. I am ok ish walking. However, I dont do enough, or enough exercise to be honest. I have got into a cycle of doing casual work , getting really sore so stop exercise, then stop it for too long , re peat etc @Dimity I can do this. Really big people have started pulling me aside offering me their stories and showing me their before pics.. I have hope. I have been to picky, given up,not had a plan etc, as dietician said, just need to change a few things, be consisent and be patient
