no choices

Gday im 45 just coming out of a divorce where my children have been systematically taken from me after being a stay at home dad for around seven years. My ex walked out claiming she was living a single life anyway . I kept the kids but started to struggle when she locked me out of our joint account . I was in shock and not copping . Her parents bought her a new house . I was struggling to keep food on the table and pay the bills when i decided maybe it would be best if the kids lived with there mum who had financial backing of her parents . Thats when the lawyer letters started claiming i was mentally unfit to see my children...anyway long story ive basically lost every thing now with a 20,000 debt and still dont get to see my kids ...the courts dont even seem to care about anything i have to say im constantly agreeingto her demands to at least get a supervised visit or phone call....now im giving up feeling like the system agrees with her and im better off out of the picture ...ive started saying goodbyes to friends and family ...my heart constantly aches for my boys ..ive missed so much already ...sick of crying and cant function...last ditch effort.

Re: no choices

Hey, I care or I wouldn't be replying to you. Thanks for your condolences re my girl, my 'angel' as you put it. Still hurts like hell and her leaving, left me so lost in life, and hers cut short. I regret so much not coping better through all the family court but glad I pulled through to see my oldest graduate uni, find a stable long term relationship, and only recently buy his first car. He seems to like that I'm around , even though I don't see him much. He knows I love him and that is an ankor for him. He has helped me hold together. He's had it tough (depression) losing his only sibling, you'd know about that.

I'm so sorry you lost your brother. I'd love to hear more about him? And I can see how the very thought of losing your boys (custody) would bring back those same overwhelming feelings of loss, and the fear of it. How old were you when you lost your brother? Did anyone take you under wing or did you have to wing it yourself and suppress your feelings? (might be resurfacing to complicate your current circumstances of loss). You lost your wife and now maybe your boys. Can you talk this through with someone face to face? Although it must 'feel' the same, remember your boys ARE alive no matter where they live and I promise you - they will always want a healthy connection with you.

Anyway, hope I make sense here, my brain a bit slow at the moment lol. I was wondering if you could 'tag' me (with @ like @Former-Member) me next time so it comes through to email and I get back to you quicker. Hang in there @seamusunsean, hugz xox.

@seamusunsean
I'm sorry this has crushed you. And you've been so let down by so many friends and family etc. And maybe the system. I haven't read all you 14pages here but if you have MI as well - they use that against you, the stigma (know that one well too) but they are bound byblaw to give you time with your kids regardless, even if it has to be supervised. This is you time to be your 'best' for your boys. Don't let anyone's poison poison you. Hold fast, declare your case and trust everything will be OK. I know its hard.

I just read a quote:
"Life is 10% what happens to you
and 90% how you react to it"

don't give up, be grateful for any time you can get and forgive the tsunami of crapola generators. Find new friends.

check in later, stay positive EVERYTHING HAS A FLIPSIDE

Society still favours children 'living with' the mother.

Re: no choices

@seamusunsean While there are systems in place that can make it hard for you to see your sons, it does not mean that you do not have a place in their lives. What matters, is what you feel. And it seems to me, that you love your sons a great deal - nothing can take this away from you. Don't let the system get the better of you. Your sons need you. It may not seem this way, but things will change. You will see your sons again.

Re: no choices

I know your right ...its just that everything im being portrayed as is simply beleived as truth and most of it is totally against what i beleive in...which makes me queastion all that i am ...if i stand agressivly by my convictions ...im violent....if im emotional im mentally unstable...if im moody im on drugs...anything said i have to prove otherwise...nothing in my past backs up any of these lies...ive been accused of messing with my boys minds...i virtually raised them to be the well mannered respectful (with a touch of cheeky lol) men there going to be ...why doesnt that matter...doesnt that say anything about me...my boys are all that i am! Now im nothing....negativity is all i know now. I dont want to be a part of this.

Re: no choices

Hello @seamusunsean,

You sound like a really caring and loving father and have raised your boys to be well mannered and respectful, you should be really proud of yourself for this.

I can't imagine how tough things are for you at the moment, keep doing your best and reminding yourself of the good person you are and that what these other people think does not matter all that matters is that you have done your best. Your boys know that.
