Children not communicating

Children not communicating

Hi everyone

I have no idea how I am going to get through the next few days. After having been seriously abused in every which way by my now ex-husband my children is no longer communicating with me. My son has also disallowed communication with my grandchildren. For the past four years I have tried to find out why. My children live in Europe and I in Tassie. I have now made the trip to Europe to sort things out and it's like banging your head against a brick wall. I am not allowed to see the little ones. I have been waiting for two days for him to arrange a meeting. Tomorrow I am travelling 600km to see my daughter, because tomorrow is the only time she has to see me for an hour. I've come out of major depression and suicidal tendencies in the past four years, but now it feels as though everything is falling apart. I'm at a loss as to what I can do.

Sorry for the rant, Ffm48

Re: Children not communicating

Oh @utopia, I didn't feel very strong or very polite. I felt panic rising, I was scared and frightened and it certainly didn't seem polite the way I kept saying no. Having said that I was going to say that I doubt if any of the family saw what was going on outside because the bulk of it was on the street and there is a high hedge in between the house and the street. However, on second thoughts as I walked towards the door someone from the extended family came rushing out to greet me. I had forgotten about that, but I do remember feeling rescued. So perhaps you are right and the scene outside was witnessed.

More important than that is though that it seems that things are moving with my son and that seems to be the case. In two weeks I'm on the way home. A lot can happen in one day; how much more can happen in two weeks?

Re: Children not communicating

What a wonderful turn around you've discovered. In two weeks a lot of family healing can begin. Slowly, slowly @Ffm48.
Miracles do happen. I'm so very happy for you all. 😀💕🎶

@Ffm48. It's after midnight here, but I just thought I'd check in and see how you are coping.
I do hope that communication with your son and daughter is continuing to go well.

Re: Children not communicating

I'm afraid not, @utopia. It's all stalled again. My daughter is not responding to emails or phone calls. My son is responding to messenger (I don't have his phone number), but I cannot see him or the grandchildren and I am running out of time. Seven days left, not much time to bond with the kidlets

Re: Children not communicating

Hi @Ffm48,
I'm sorry things have taken a downhill turn. I'm wondering if their dad has had anything to do with this after you were assertive to him and he's got in the kids ears. It seems from what your have said he'd leave no rock unturned in this. I am feeling for you. No matter what there will always be a record of you trying. It might be worth writing it all down somewhere so that one day one of your kids or grandkids can read it and know the great lengths and the depths of dispair you went through to have contact with your family. It doesn't have to be sent just a journal or diary of this trip and all your attempts to be reunited with family. Take care. 💜😊

Re: Children not communicating

@Ffm48. I'm sorry things have gone sour again. Are you coping? Are you managing to look after yourself?
If you need to see a doctor and are unsure where to go, remember the Australian Embassy or Consulate can help you with that.
There is still a week left. There is still hope

Re: Children not communicating

Thank you for your concern @Former-Member, @utopia. First of all, yes I am coping. The lessons and strategies learnt during therapy are working .

My daughter is not responding in any way shape or form. I just don't know what to do when there is nil response.

Of course, I have no idea what X has been saying to my children. If what he wrote to my solicitors is any indication, it was neither pretty nor true.

My son does have rather lomg phone conversations with me on the way to and from work; however, he does insist I can only see the children in his presence. Therefore, not this week,; he doesn't have time this week. As much as I try I cannot understand this. My son has known when I was coming since March. On the other hand I do not want to speculate upon reasons. When speculating we usually end up being wrong.

My hope is now concentrated on the weekend.

Re: Children not communicating

@Ffm48. I'm so glad your coping strategies are working for you.
I guess you just have to go along with what your son wants. You do still have this weekend together. Be sure to take photos of your son and grandkids and make sure you are in some of the photos too - will be so special to have them when you get home to Tassie. Keep your chin held high.

Re: Children not communicating

I am so proud of you @Ffm48 and you too should be proud of what you've achieved and how well you've managed despite what may be undue interference from that bloke who now is just another man.
Take care. Thinking of you 🎶 💕 🎶
