The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

My lawn hadn't been mowed in 3 months until this week. Trying to save money on lawnmmower man costs @TAB. It hadn't grown anyway so why pay someone? He brought me some more firewood which was good. Just made a peppermint tea then will get into the kitchen and clean up fairly soon

Re: The magic of tidying

well i moved in on 5/5 it looked ok then, def not been touched since lolo..... re lawn @Dimity stuffing coffee down, then got to get it out of car , was tricky getting it into boot, so will be fun.

hopefully it runs. was beyond disappointed when they brought it out, hadnt seen what they were givinng me, then they rang me wantin extra $50 for catcher, so then its started not to make sense . then when saw it look ancient, catcher was damaged, and they hadnt even cleaned it, should have just said No, not paying that money for .that even if took $100 off would not have been happy. I just paid and got out as quick as I could, with guy in my ear saying maybe I will lose some weight now pushing mower around..

anyway. praying it lasts say 5 years now and never ever going to that shop again.

@TAB Just got an SMS from Vodaphone. They are closing down their 3G networks so my old burner phone won't operate on the new 4-5G network in December. Damn! Looks like I'll be having a new phone. It lasted me several years and was a great little phone. I have one in mind - its going to cost me several hundred to get this Samsung Galaxy Android A32 I think it was. Its got a fast speed and good battery life. I read about it on a Highly Recommended Mobiles for 2023 article. Have been digging around for reviews several weeks back and it looks good. Will get a reconditioned model from another place - not Kogan - too expensive. Got to find the name of the reconditioned mobile phone place then make a purchase

boost mobile for recon phones , best to buy in person if you can to see how much of battery is still usable I saw that after I bought it, was luck still 90% think thats only iphones do that tho @Former-Member yes mower dear, but once got warmed up smoke went away and its unstoppable . I need a break, for a few days at least lol. Front lawn done, still long, but took top 8-10 inches off, didnt want to k!ll it ha ha

Re: The magic of tidying

I just bought a phone off of a refurbished site that was featured in A Current Affair @TAB Had my eye on it for a while after reading good reviews on both PC Mag, Amazon and elsewhere. Took out a warranty just in case it breaks, did that with my apple mac computer when I bought it several years ago and thankfully no issues.

Did Paypal Pay in 4 and bought during when moon was not void of course or during a mercury retrograde. I never buy anything during a void of course moon as you are likely to wind up with a dud. Mercury governs electronics, communications and phones so usually with mercury retrograde its not a favorable time to buy. It goes retrograde in September. So hopefully have all my bases covered. ''

Thats good you got front lawn done. Maybe do the back tomorrow? I've just cleaned my stovetop and sink and will tackle the kitchen bench tomorrow.

Re: The magic of tidying

You will get around to it @TAB Do you know if you can use pine cones for firewood? I did see someone on a budgeting site on facebook collecting pine cones several years back from a park. I think they were using it for free firewood. You did however mention that site for what is suitable for low smoke wood. Anyway someone may want your pine cones. Don't know how saleable it is or you could do a pay it forward and just give it away for free on facebook marketplace.

Re: The magic of tidying

Thats good to know @TAB You could store them somehow. You will have plenty of wood for your heater! Just done a load of washing then organising some lunch. Will put clothes on the line tomorrow. Its a fine day today so hopefully tomorrow will be the same. Enjoy your car ride. It will be a nice break away from home.
