The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

Re: The magic of tidying

That's true, @TAB ... But there'd have to be good signage at the top of the mountain or else hikers might get a fright and think it was a murdered body!

Re: The magic of tidying

.. In what I came across, I think there was a suggestion that the whole body didnt always make it up the mountain as too heavy. So after cutting it up to fit in backpack just throw out the rest at ground level @NatureLover

hey @Former-Member i was up early and set up new microwave. got to get mower out of car , now feeling self conscious about mowing lawn and putting it off lol

Re: The magic of tidying

Thats good @TAB maybe start mowing a bit later as you don't want to bother neighbours. It will get done, just take it slowly. I used to find it hard mowing lawns years ago. I now have a lawnmower man do it for convenience but I reckon I could mow the lawn myself. Don't have a garage to put lawnmower in. Used to hire one from Bunnings. Maybe take it out the back to fiddle around with it to get it working to your liking. Adjust the height of the mower and just see how it all feels before pushing it around the yard
