The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

The cleaner just left. She spent an hour and 15 minutes here today. She got everything on my list done. I will ask her to vacuum the bedroom as well next week. I am relieved she has left to be honest.

Re: The magic of tidying

Well done on your tidying and decluttering efforts over the last couple of days @Oaktree . Your cleaner sounds very good and quick - but it sounds as though it's uncomfortable having her in the house. Perhaps she's actually very nice and worth getting to know a little better, she might not be so scary. She might also be able to suggest other things she can help with if you chat over a refreshment when she finishes early. Just a thought.

Do you feel ready for your husband's op yet or is there more to do?

Re: The magic of tidying

There is always more to do @Dimity

The living space is clear but I need to make room in the front room for him to do his exercises in. Also I need to move a few boxes and crates out of my daughter’s room. I think I will leave it a few days before I do any more though. I am a bit worn out. Hubby knew how hard I have been working for his benefit so he brought me home some flowers today. I am a spoilt lady!

@Oaktree I knew there was something I forgot to do yesterday - write to you! Re your husband's operation and the time pressure this puts on you! 🫂

It sounds like you've been working really hard - well done. The cleaner sounds stressful for you, but I'm glad you were able to get her to do more work.

We are here for you over the next 2 weeks 🙂

Hello @Oaktree , @Dimity , @NatureLover , @TAB , @Appleblossom

As I am a cleaner , I find it easier when no one at home so I can get things done that they want me to do

Don't get me wrong, but when my customers are at home they want to talk while I am trying to clean

I like to do my best for them and to do extra if I have the time 😁

@Shaz51 @Dimity @Oaktree @NatureLover @TAB

Juggled some books ... not balls ... moved my classics and plays ... to middle room ... I could only put a hanfdul in opshop bag ... lol ... clinging ...clinging .. to memories of memories ... and some of the owners of my books ... ah well ... thats me.

so I can have access to music books for current activities ....

Next step getting that organised .... even labelling shelves .... go me!
